it's the biggest fight in the sport and would do more buys today than had it happened a year and a half ago. Pacquiao is now in my face everyday, i must be in the target audience of his ads. The press conferences would be incredible, two completely different personalities, no chance we get humble Floyd. It remains a massive fight, still epic.
I realize this, but I try to look at it from a different angle...I'm not into all the "who'd win", "he's scared", and "osdt" bull****...I think this thread is a reasonable query, one that hasn't been beat to death...
Those are extreme scenarios lol. But even if that happens I reckon people will still buy it simply because of the hype. People easily buy into Hype.
Even if Ortiz and Marquez do surprisingly well, as long as Floyd and Pacquiao still look sharp, then the interest will be there. Right now it's easy for us to grow tired of the concept and just shrug off the idea of them fighting. But once that **** gets signed, trust me, everyone is going to be going nuts.
Well, it's not really the fight that saves boxing, because boxing isn't dying...in fact, I have seen more interest in boxing as a whole here in the UK, than I have for a good few years. I've sort of lost interest in May-Pac for the time being...but I would imagine I would be extremely excited if it got signed.
People are tired of it being talked about in hypothetical terms. We've been wanting to see it for 2 years. However, the minute it gets made official and the contracts are signed and the promotion gets rolling, it will be nuts.
it would of been an action packed fight, but, i guess riddick chicken out. still wanna see pac-floyd. they r either hyping the fight, or someone is running scared
can't forget that Hagler-Hearns took years to put together. This fight may actually be more entertaining in ring than a couple years ago.
TBH it has only really lost its luster to people who follow boxing on an everyday level but not to the people who will actually buy the bulk of the pay per view, because in the states people will still buy the BIG fight REGARDLESS if they have been keeping track or not plus the marketing machine behind it would be on presidential campaign level. But Look at it from the FIGHTERS perspective 3 yrs ago it was 25 million apiece last last year they stood to earn 40 mil apiece as of right now they are standing to earn AT LEAST 50 MILLION apiece so from an earnings point of view of THE FIGHTERS you tell me if it has loss its luster?
the simple fact that we are talking about it 3 YEARS LATER lets you REALLY KNOW how much it has lost. TYSON V HOLYFIELD TOOK 6 YEARS TO MAKE but the moment it was signed I was stoked as if it only took a hand shake and a smile and we couldn't wait
It still comes down to the fact Jr avoid Pacquio when he was in the best form of his career, Just like he avoid Margarito and others.
i don't give a **** about this fight anymore. if it was on, i'd watch it. but not with any excitement. **** it.... who cares. it's just gone on far too long now. hearing about the fight just bores me. it's never going to happen anyway.
right now it feels like some of the luster has been lost, however IF this fight happens, the day it gets announced, everyone will forget about it and it will be huge, biggest money fight planet earth has ever seen
I already did a poll on this. if it happens in 2012, it'll be huge, bigger than if it was already done. (i suspect it was the plan all along)
