Roach is the guy if you have a fundamentally flawed offensive juggernut and you want to put that fighter on the next level without giving up his killer instinct. One razor thin loss to Kotelnik, a close loss to Khan and a KO over Ortiz and Cayo, Maidana is definitely there with the best of the 140lbs division, just not quite at the very top mainly due to defensive holes and wideness. But he does possess a good jab he showed in the Kotelnik fight, okay handspeed, two handed power both to the body and head, nice timing showed vs. Ortiz, Cayo and Khan and a big, big heart. He just needs a pro experienced trainer like Roach who knows how to deal with such raw talents, think the young Pacquiao.

I say: join the Wild Card Gym, there's plenty of room to develop for warrior Marcos 'El Chino' Maidana!

I think he'd do really well with a guy like Roach. Pac was once considered nothing more than a brawler before their association and has turned into a pretty balanced offensive machine.

Only problem with training with Roach is that Maidana might not get enough time with Freddie given how many fighters the man already has in his stable.

Roach is a workaholic, I think he can take a few more fighters. Remember that someone like Pac fights just twice a year which means 2x6 weeks in the camp in 52, and a fighter needs no more than 2, maybe 3 hours with the head trainer, the rest of the team can handle the rest. Roach is the right guy for El Chino because Marcos is awkward enough that a fine coach like Steward would do him wrong with the textbook style. This is not a critique of Miguel Diaz BTW, but Roach is a better style match.

Is Chino still young enough for it? Old habits are hard to correct when you're old enough. And Roach took 5 years before Pacquiao started getting his lessons ingrained in him.

This is a very good point to be honest. He could try it out.. but then again hes been around for a while and is 27 years old now, depends if he is young enough in mind to adapt to Roaches gameplans and so on

He can even go get trained by Nacho to polish his defense and footwork. But I don't think he would change that much the only thing I see he can change is his conditioning.

It seems like every time someone loses people say, ''I wonder how well he'd do if Roach was training him.''

Maidana has bad balance & footwork... & for ****s sake Get him some trunks that fit.
(I understand he has habits inside the ring, I'm just ****ing around)

Maybe stick Marcos inside the Sergio Martinez camp, See if he can learn there.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks. Maidana has been brawling throughout his career and has little to no boxing intelligence. Like Diaz said, all Maidana knows is to punch, punch, punch and punch.

Maidana is not an offensive juggernaut imo. He's a bull, has a lot of determination and hits hard. But he's way too slow and can't counter, telegraphs his punches too much too.

Jesus christ this is everyones suggestion for a fighter now.

Last night was his first fight with Miguel Diaz who is a good trainer and I would say that last night was the best performance of his career why does he have to go to the Wild Card.
