Getting beaten by Alvarez would have paid OK. Rhodes can go back to Euro level where he'd been fighting anyway and Magic Matt did himself no harm in the welterweight stakes losing to Alvarez and got his name "out there" in the USA in process.

 

I can see Hatton getting a shot at Senchenko sometime in the next 12 months

but you could be right about the finances, i spoke to a coach who told me that the hatton's pay really good money compared to the other promoters in britain and he would try them first for any of his fighters turning professional.

you need to have good money coming in to pay good wages.

 

he is fighting for the WBA welterweight title soon so if he wins would be a chance for matthew to challenge a world title. i don't think he would win and would probably have to fight him in the ukraine

 

Alvarez fights where a good idea for both Matt Hatton and Rhodes, they probably earned more than a usual fight and it hasn't done either career particular problems.

 

Yeah lets be fair, they were low key world title bouts and no one was realy expecting them to win...

I don't see how any of this would really have affected Hatton financially. They didn't go into these fights at a loss, they'd have come out up either way. The only difference is the market worth of the fighters is now less. Or is it? Rhodes was on a hiding to nothing really, they got paid well and lost, big deal he's at the end of his career. Hatton probably actually enhanced his standing worldwide.

Foster Jr losing to that unknown guy was painful, likewise Watson, but I somehow think Ricky Hatton who fleeced all the fans for years can soak it up...
