The way that GBP's negotiating this fight may NEVER HAPPEN ! One can only be INSULTED so many times before $$$ MONEY $$$ is NOT the issue.
Sorry to break the bubble, and I don't mean disrespect to GGG, but the only way this fight breaks 1M is if GGG-Jacobs can break 300k ppv. Otherwise it is just wishful thinking.
Its a bogus offer by Canelo because of the way GBP's is doing it. GG is though a complete unknown to casual fans and Canelo would have to sell the fight. GG might still make money even if they negotiate the fight in September. Will GG make 15 mil? I don't know but a flat fee is totally bogus.
I think the size of the fight is being a bit overestimated by fans (which is another reason I think 15 million is a good offer) Really, as much as Id love to say its a superfight, I would be pleasantly surprised if it broke a million ppv buys. Its probably around the 850k mark. If that. Canelo isnt half as popular as his fans think he is, and Golovkin still isnt mainstream. I would love to be wrong though. Would be awesome to see a legitimately big event in america in the post mayweather and pac era. I just dont see it happening. That being said... if it managed to do 750k or above... but not break a mill... those are still good numbers n Id be happy for the sport. Its just that people are talking like this is a legitimate superfight (million +) and I just dont see it.
Huh? You dont see how this is a significant fight? And no... Broner vs Crawford if on PPV doesn't do better numbers.
Golovkin is main stream, though not on the level of a Pacquiao or a Mayweather. HBO has promoted him very well. Canelo has a huge fan base, and they abandoned him (see Smith fight), but they'll return for Chavez and especially Golovkin. 1 million minimum.
No hes not mainstream. Floyd is mainstream Pac is mainstream Ronda is mainstream McGregor is mainstream Golovkin is not mainstream lol. Hes on his way... I think if he beats Jacobs Saunders and Canelo then he will be... but as of now hes absolutely not a mainstream fighter. A mainstream fighter with momentum like Gs would sell 650k or more against an opponent like Jacobs. I highly doubt Golovkin breaks 550k. Though ill bump this if he does and happily admit I was wrong... dont see that happening though.
What's the biggest number of PPV buys GGG has drawn? What's Canelo's largest, not counting Floyd? Canelo is the A-side here. He dictates the terms. If GGG can make $15M fighting someone else where he is the A-side, he should do that. Otherwise, take the money.
As much as I like watching GGG, he is not mainstream especially in ppv business. He is widely popular in message board with hardcore fans like us. He is also popular with live audience in venues he fights in because he brings excitement and knock out. But in terms of mainstream nation wide with non boxing fan and non sports fan, he is not. I would love to be proven wrong. I don't think he breaks 300k with Jacobs.
