Pac's athletisicm was already there, minus his power. he doesn't have that vaunted power he has when he moved to super bantam weight. back then he was just an "accumulation of blow" puncher.

according to torrecampo himself, in the fight. he was really eating leather with manny. he said, the ratio was 1:7. that is if he lands 1 punch, manny lands 7 punches. but he said noticed something in manny, which manny does always and doesn't even change. he noticed that when pac throws his jab, and when it lands, he open up and follow it with a flurry.

Looks like a body shot to me, at any speed. In fact it looks like a low blow, but maybe just on the waistline. Anyway, it had something of some upward trajectory while hitting his body, so I really don't think it originally hit his face.
