between Anderson Silva and Cung Le?

    and also

    Fedor Emelianenko vs Randy Couture?

Its ALWAYS about money. There has to be an amount that would allow both matches.

I'd love to see those fights...but i don't think it'll happen. Not with randy and Silva being under contract to the UFC....But everyone's got their price, even Dana White. Were talking ODLH box office money here!

Yes, but Cung Le could easily move to the UFC.

No way its ODLH money, Silva is by far the bigger national draw, it wouldn't do numbers bigger than most Anderson Silva fights, it would probably draw less than Henderson vs A Silva did.

It would cost both of their normal pay, and maybe buying out Cung Le's contract from Strikeforce.

Plus the medical bill for Le after he gets obliterated.

Am I the only one who would much rather see Anderson Silva face off vs Gegard Mousasi if he can make the weight ?

The reason for Cung Le is because he is
    1) undefeated
    2) Practices the discipline of Buce Lee's Kung Fu and possibly an heir apparent to the icon
    3) Is also now a charismatic and marketable movie star
    4) Is a great stand up fighter (as is Silva) which makes for an exciting fight.

Yeah, I was trying to say that it would take ODLH pvv type money for Dana White to sanction a one-off match with one of his fighters. Le v Silva match is the more plausable option, but I think he's comited to filming a couple of movies in the foreseeable future.

Not a matter of money, more politics (Fedor/Couture) and demand (Le/ Silva).

If Cung Le went on to dethrone Lawler, it would make the contest more interesting. I believe Le should fight Lawler, and Shamrock should face the guy that just stopped "Ninja." The winners of each fight should face off, with the absolute winner heading for the UFC.

What a PPV event it would be with both on one show! I would pay $100 for the event!

    1) All but one against jouneymen. Mousasi has gone on a tear beating Lombard, Cyborg, Denis Kang, Manhoef, and Jacare, and thats just the top names on his recent streak, the non-huge names are damn good too.

    2) Not even close, he practices the modern art of San Sho, which is, especially the way Le was tought and fights, a combination of wrestling and Muay Thai. The Chinese government created it as a national sport (I consider this a good thing though, Bruce Le's "Kung Fu"...no thank you

    3) Le is marketable to the Vietnamese community in San Jose; Mousasi would be almost the same in Glendale. Either way, its Anderson Silva who would be selling the fight, not his opponent. People come to see Silva fight anybody, if you can show them a little of the other opponent and he is good, the ratings are even better, and there is much more footage of that for Mousasi than Le.

    4) Mousasi has a good striking game, and a just short of great ground game that is always improving.

For the purposes of public perception and the promotion of the fight his name is Cung (Kung Fu) Le (Bruce Lee), he makes movies, he is Asian , is undefeated and is a great fighter. The match is a promotional dream. Anderson Silva is regarded as perhaps the best fighter in the world.

My question is how much would it take to make the matches.

I think that Silva lets his UFC contract run out and then seeks a mega payday with a boxing rules fight with Roy Jones (if Jones beats Calzaghe next month)

He will earn about $5 million for that fight. Which is about 10 times what he makes fighting for the UFC.

5mil would be way more then 10times bigger then what he makes in Ufc.He got 70k for the irvin fight.Got to remember MMA aint on the same numbers as boxing just yet.

If Rjj beats Joe Calzaghe(which is a longshot)there is no way in the world he would then face silva in a boxing match.

He will definetly chase a mass payday as heavyweight.Like Roy has said he would do.Against one of the Klitscko's(spelling).

Jones would take a Silva fight because he thinks it would be an easy payday and he responds to someone calling him out.
Once MMA fighters get a taste of the money that is out there the doors will be blown off.
No one can tell me that Silva only fights because he is loyal to the UFC and for the furtherance of the sport.
$5 million is the neighborhood of what a Jones - Silva fight would be.
