Froch and Chavez aren't as good as Ward and that played a large part in the reason why GGG requested a catchweight. Though it's not nearly the only reason. but you like to ignore that. Ward being GGG's highest payday to day isn't very relevant. Canelo is a much larger payday and so was Cotto. A fight with Canelo/Cotto bother offered a higher payday and a 160 title whereas a Ward fight brought significantly less money, forced him to go up in weight just to have to come back down to 160 in the future and gave a good chance at being beat and loosing all bargaining power he had accumulated at 160.

The simple fact is is that GGG won the negotiationad and the media game. GGG had a legitimate reason to offer Chavez and Froch 168 and not Ward. All Ward had to do was counter offer 164 with 168 and adjust the price split and he would have had all the bragging rights when and if GGG turned it down. But as simple as that was to do he didn't do it and thats Wards fault. Why did Ward not do it? Some say he was scared of GGG, some say he looked at Kovalev as a bigger payday and a better name on his resume. He would be right in thinking that too. Saying Ward couldn't make 164 is hypocritical when he himself said that he could make 160 for floyd. I personally don't care what either fighter said they would make as both statements about what weight they would go to were said long in the past and are no longer relevant to the situation at hand.

The fact of the matter is that it was a good fight that both fighters had to go out of their way to make. GGG had a better option of sticking around 160 for Canelo and Ward had a better option of going to LHW for Kovalev. GGG and Ward fighting would postpone both of their more profitable objectives and risk their chances of winning fights in the future against stiff competition because of dodgy weight fluctuations. The only thing that made a move to 168 worth it for GGG is the promise of retirement money in case it became a career ending move.

Ward talking about 160 for floyd was a joke ....pure fantasy......one floyd has never tried to make a fight there and has said that too far for him...even if ward could have done it floyd would never in a million years take it ......so stop that non sense .......it was simply a fantasy matchup ward mentioned that pit two of the top p4p fighters against each other

Ward couldn't have just said "let's do 168 and adjust the split" because as I've said loeffler went "we have other plans to unify but maybe 2017 is possible.......aka ya were not interested

How is that option of waiting for canelo instead working out? Does he have any guarantee of that fight getting made?

I'm sure that you'll say "we'll ggg will get the title anyway if Canelo drops it"....which is going to mean little .., it'll be the same Ole fighting b level Mandos that nobody cares about ...., he should be doing whatever he has to to take that belt off canelo in the ring

You're right, it probably was a joke as Ward is a natural LHW. But my point was that any statement made in the past about moving up or down isn't relevant anymore. Though Wards IS less relevant.

Not too great right now but nobody can see the future, and we won't know how bad of a decision it was until the end of this year. Note that other potential fights that could happen have much less of a chance of happening had he lost to Ward for little to no money.

As for predicting what I'm going to say.. I don't know what I've said earlier that gave you the impression that I want GGG to take the easy way out. Besides if GGG ends up unifying with Canelo having dropped the belt, he would still have beaten Saunders. While Saunders isn't as great of a scalp as Ward, neither is Canelo. Hardly changes a thing there now does it. Also it effectively stalls Canelo's plans for the future. jr. middleweight is on life support right now and will be dead when the top talent moves to middleweight. if Canelo drops the title and Golovkin Unifies Canelo will have no choice but to fight GGG or stay irrelevant as his fans slowly move on to the next great mexican fighter.
