how much more would calzaghe have to do to get the respect he deserves?

if joe came back and beat either dawson or the super 6 winner it would be an amazing feat.

as it stands joe was a great champion and the best swm of all time.

A start would be by fighting "Any" world class fighter near their prime. He did this one time in his career verses Kessler. Lacy would almost qualify but he simply isn't a good enough fighter. The best thing he could have done is left behind 168 for 175 sooner and faced any real opponent.

prime this prime that, you cant go back in history and pull fighters out of their primes, and if they thought they had a strong chance of losing then they wouldnt have fought calzaghe in the first place, all of these fighters you listed thought that they had a great chance of winning, so with that being said, a victory over roy jones is just that a VICTORY OVER ROY JONES:happy

No, this kind of statement has been proven to be false all throughout boxing history.

When a fighter is been proven to be way past their best, a win loses significance and magnitude.

Especially when the fighter was starched even worse by lesser fighters 4 years prior, and when the victor makes prior statements about how he knows the fighter is shot before he fights him.

I still see people just saying fight xx or xx yet no one is saying how. These people DID NOT want to fight, how can you fight someone that wont fight you. Im not saying they all ducked him but for one reason or other most of the names people say he should have fought had 0 interest in fighting him.

I agree... Most of it was just bad timing I think. People are way too quick to say duck duck duck, just because certain fights didn't happen when certain fighters were around at the same time.

Yep 100% and i mean that for both calzaghe and the people some suggest ducked him aswell. Boxing is a buisiness and a lot of it is about getting the right fight at the right time foe the right money sadly.

yep, it is sad, but at some of the points there with some of the fighters the money just was not there for the risk at the time.
