Fair enough, been a while since I have watched Saldivar so will definitly have to brush up on him.

Good point there. Pep's changes of angles could give Pedroza hell.

I think he lacks the variety of work that Pep has, I'm not saying Marcel was limited or he was one-dimensioned but his work on the outside wasnt that varied IMO.

I'm with you on Saldivar s_s - his ability to slowly shut down great boxers was remarkable. He could catch a lot of incoming fire on his gloves and reply with that straight left brilliantly ie the Ramos fight. It was such a hard punch to defend against and so debilitating when it got through. That said, as brilliant as Winstone, Famechon, Legra and Laguna could be, Pep was more evasive and would stand a much better chance of defusing Saldivar's late round surge more effectively.

Marcel-Pep would have been a different thing altogether stylewise. It would be interesting to see who was forced to adapt if they couldn't control things from mid to long range IMO.

How would you compare Pedroza to Saddler in the sense of overall effectiveness, particularly against somebody like Pep? Is that Saddler was that much better at closing people down and imposing his style on them even if Pedroza was a bit smoother?

Yeah Pep looks pretty fluent on the outside, it will be hard for Marcel to match him, but of the names listed, I think he has the best chance of holding his own there.

For sure TR. Would be intriguing last third of the fight, that's for sure.

A fight I'd love to see. I think they would try different strategies and make adaptions throughout, might even feature a bit more in-fighting than we would expect.

Yeah I think so. Pedroza was quite clearly a better boxer than Saddler imo, but Saddler was a bigger bruiser; better chin, better power, better clinch and mauler, harder to keep off.

Thing is, Saddler wasn't the best ring cutter I've ever seen, but whenever he did trap you, you were guaranteed to be in a world of hurt. I think his ability to do damage more than Pedroza could is why he would have a better chance of winning than Pedroza, even though Eusebio was the more well rounded.
