How much of a chance do you have Jermell Charlo upsetting Canelo?

How much of a chance do you give Jermell Charlo actually surprising everyone and pulling off a huge upset against Canelo? A smaller fighter beating a bigger fighter has been done before, but rarely a fighter that's 2 divisions below. I'm curious how much this would boost Charlo if he actually pulls it off and isn't just cashing out.

He has close to no chance, It's not even just the weight. If Charlo has issues with Castano and Harrison I just can't see him taking out Canelo. Even this older, slower version of Alvarez should be able to win an easy decision if not by devastating KO.

Al Haymon didn't sign Canelo up to go out and lose his first fight. It's a two bagger: Haymon makes money off the 3 fights with Canelo and he gets to punish essentially both useless and overpaid Charlos.
In the last 4 years they (The Charlos) have fought a combined 5 times. Canelo has fought 7 times.

First time I agree with Miniq in a while. Unless Canelo has massively declined overnight, he should take this easily.

Not sure size is an issue here and Jermell is a really good fighter.

Even though charlo squeezes down n weight which will allow him to weigh n comfortably for this one n use his speed to his advantage it will still be a hard task taking on someone as good as Alvarez who has seen it all and has taken harder shots from guys above jermell stature

Canelo ought to be ashamed of himself picking on a guy who fights at 154 when his last 2 fights were at 168 & 175. The King really wanted JERMALL though didn't he ROFL Seems ages ago when Canelo refused to defend the bogus WBC title @160 but wanted 156 that Mexican beef did him proud I guess

Never rated the Charlo's as top P4P fighters. Jermell like his brother has size and natural athleticism but their skills sets beyond that are not remarkable. Even without the move up in weight, he's out skilled by Canelo. He's not going to be able to do what GGG did and keep Canelo contained and on the back foot for most of the fight. I fully expect Canelo to walk him down and break him down. It's not a matter of if Jermell can win, it's if he can survive to hear the final bell.

Jermell has better conditioning than Canelo. If he does hear the final bell, he has a good chance to win a decision on work rate. He has good footwork, good foot speed, fast hands, and he can punch for a 154-er. There's an argument that Jermell Charlo despite coming from 154 is a bigger puncher than anyone Canelo has fought at 168. (obviously GGG in his prime was a bigger puncher but not the 40 year old SMW verision) And I'm not talking about brute force behind a punch, I'm referring to punch explosiveness and power punching accuracy. Jermell can land looping punches from all angles with a lot of force behind it, and I don't think Canelo's really ever fought someone who can deliver the kind of bombs Jermell can land. Even late in a fight, Jermell is dangerous as a puncher, and he's probably not going to fade like Canelo down the stretch, unless Canelo can land some big body shots. If Jermell uses his quick feet to keep Canelo at range, it could be a long night for the Mexican.

If Jermell can go the distance, he has a great chance to outwork Canelo and win a decision. He's not gonna stop Canelo, but he could land some decent shots on Canelo and frustrate Canelo with his movement and timing, and Jermell can use his athleticism to avoid Canelo's big shots. If he can hang in there early, and keep it close on the cards by the midpoint, there's a good chance Charlo is the fresher fighter down the stretch and can win the late rounds and a decision. But of course there's always a chance he gets caught with something big from Canelo. This is what makes it such an intriguing fight.

I respect your opinion on this. However a comparison can’t be made simply Tony Harrison was a rare fighter that was taller and had longer reach than Charlo and his work punch output was high. Castano also another fighter a high work rate. Canelo is not throwing more than 400 punches in this fight.

Canelo is a great counter puncher and that might be his biggest asset in this fight. I say 60/40 leaning towards Canelo.
