How much of a chance does Floyd Mayweather Jr have at beating Sugar Ray Robinson at welterweight

Mayweather has a chance against anyone in his divisions IMO.

Shame there is no footage of SRR at his best.

 

I do think Floyd could hang about, but he is going to get hit far more often than he ever has and hard, damn hard and could very well be stopped cold.

 

None.

 

He could hang with him for sure, but chances of actually beating him are almost none.

You do not beat Robinson by playing matador, which is what WW Floyd was compared to the more aggressive PBF from 130-140. He's gonna have to fight him, and he's not winning that. He's smaller, doesn't hit as hard, as frequently, in as many combinations, and simply doesn't have the mentality and will to out-gun someone like Robinson. Speed advantage may even go to Robinson as well.

His best chance is on the inside where I guess you could argue he was technically superior to Robinson in a textbook, nuts and bolts sense, but Robinson is just plain more dangerous there and is more likely gonna give him the LaMotta treatment.

 

Floyd might win a few rounds and is capable of going the distance. I doubt he'd win though, it's just a horrible match-up against a better fighter.

 

Some chance. Vaguely competitive.
But Floyd is not a realistic bet in this one, for mine.
Stoppage win for SRR possible. Worth a punt for the right price.
