Very good chance. Almost anyone is going to have a problem with Martinez's style and movement.

very little. sergios a very small middleweight. bute could fight at 175 right now. butes also has great speed and reflexes....a bigger more lethargic martinez would not be able to cope.

i honestly think martinez can win against bute , he is light years beyond any opposition bute has faced thus far .

martinez is anything but lathargic , and weighs close to 170 on fight night , i doubt he would gain very much if any weight for bute , he would actuslly come in with more in the tank from not having to cut as much weight , id be a damn good fight

Martinez is a huy that can make 154. He was 165 in one of his last two fights.

dude i didn't say he's lethargic. re read!!! I said that if he had to fight at SMW he'd be more lethargic fromt he extra weight. the guy is a natural JMW if anything I think we'll see him go back to 154 rather than up to 168. before the Pavlik fight no even mentioned him a possible MW as he wasn't even a big JMW....he didn't move up to MW cause he outgrew JMW he did because he was offered a title shot that the champion was supposed be showcased in by being able to manhandle a smaller fighter....it backfired and Sergio got the belt and because of that he's stayed at middle but he's really a Junior Middleweight. If he ever fought at 168, he'd be massively outsized and in tough against any of the top guys but the worst possible style match ups for him are Bute and Dirrell cause not only are they much bigger but they both move very well and have very quick hands (close to martinez speed, in dirrells case even faster). IF sergio ever went up to SMW and fought a much larger man at the top of the division then he'd be best to fight someone like Froch, who his movement and speed can trouble, cause he's not causing anyone at SMW trouble with punching power.

That is a ridiculous imaginary fight.

Sergio is already too small for 160.

Only reason for someone to suggest a 168 fight would be to distract people from the real fight that Sergio should be fight: Martinez vs Mayweather!

Floyd and his fans are not really scared of package but I believe they are genuinely scared of Martinez.... and would love to make people believe Sergio is too big for Floyd ..this time by trying to associate him with a 6'2 like Bute.

Martinez would fight Bute, not his former opposition. :D

You're forgetting that Floyd came up from SFW he could easily fight @ 140lbs. There's no need for floyd to move up for Sergio @ this stage of his career. If Sergio wants it so bad then it shouldn't be hard for him to come down to 147 or 150 catchweight.

Giving a guy in his third weight class good odds to move up to a fourth and beat a general consensus top 4 of that division, undefeated, with a title, that most think is quite powerful and talented, means you think VERY highly of that fighter, especially if he's over 35. That said, I'd be comfortable, all the question marks aside, with saying a fair 35-40% chance, being generous with my assumptions about Martinez's ceiling. Bute would probably beat the **** out of everyone Martinez has whipped too, if I'm just going on suspicion.
