Malignaggi just did it. Bradley did it. A hand full of fighters that went to Germany and got robbed have done it. Dawson went to Canada. Hopkins also got robbed in Canada and Ecuador.

Fighting at home has advantages and US fighters largely benefit from not travelling outwith their land. Such is their ignorance to this possibility they are almost certainly oblivious to the fact foreign pugilists can be affected negatively.

....an american fighting in america (5 mins from home), with an aemrican ref that allowed no in-fighting as that would favour hatton...who then refereed the fight between Calzaghe and Hopkins and allowed all the in-fighting in the world (favouring Hopkins).....yeah, no advantage for american fighters.

its the fault of the americans that they create no atmosphere.

...mayweather, home, home gym, home food, home comforts...no advantage at all then.

Surely you can see why this is a terrible analogy?

Looking at your location, I didn't bother to read. All the big/major fights have been happening in America for a LONG time, that's how it has been. Now that this is the case, surely you will get more robberies/controversies happening in a place constantly hosting boxing fights/events, perfection is impossible.

Now take a better look at what controversies in England look like and make a comparison. McClellan vs Benn was a joke that resulted in a man's permanent disability. The way Benn was gladly allowed to throw combinations to the back of the head was as shameless as fights like Hatton vs Tszyu(WWE Wrestling match mixed with some UFC), Ruiz vs Haye(Back of the head knockdown), Froch vs Dirrell(WWE bodyslam there), shot to doom Barrera vs Khan(loved the cut in round 1 where the damn commentators knew it should be stopped yet the doctor allowed it to go on) and endless other fights favoring the local fighter in shameless fashion.

    it's not going to happen.
and i got no sympathy for all these fighters who sell paper belts as 'world titles' in front of home fans as a cop out for taking on the best fighters.

i know it doesnt apply to all fighters.

i fight professionally, and to be honest, a home advantage does make a difference but its only something you notice when you enter the ring and inbetween rounds.

the money is in the states, and even if it wasnt, the best fighter would still prevail

Urkal vs Vivian Harris 2 in Germany for the second time and Harris even came to the ring with no music playing just to soak in the boos. And what did Harris do? He just beat Urkal even worse then the first fight and knocked him out(something that a prime Kostya Tyszu and Miguel Cotto in PR never came close to doing).

Considering that if they played the Chargers just down the road in San Deigo they wouldn't be playing with home field advantage?

Its a huge advantage having a fight in your home country, that should be obvious to anyone really. Not only are you used to the conditions and atmosphere, you have the crowd, the convenience and in many cases even the home conforts if its your hometown. Its the same in all sports and maybe even more so in individual sports. You are much more likely to have an off day on the road than at home. Then factor in the officials who may well score easier for the home guy etc and you have a very significant advantage.
