Sherman Williams is a journey man and Holyfield was shot to ****. Whatever bias in this fight was because it was Holyfield not because he was American fighting someone from the Bahamas.

naive? so your telling me the venue of the fight has that much a bearing on a great fighter losing to a fighter he shouldnt lose to because the venue?????

Can there be a homefireld advantage in boxing...yes...ONLY if the other fighter is that frail to let it get to him....if you trained to win...then let it all fall to pieces because of where your fighting...then you never were fukkin ready! You can't blame it on where you fought...thats bullshyt.

This is not football, basketball or hockey....

These fighters can and do fly over to the next country or state well in advance to get the necessary time to get accustom and its not liek they are booking 5 dollar room hotels that are 50 miles away for fukk sake.

Stop looking for excuses...i have never heard a fighter blame a loss on being in another country...if anything fighting in your own back yard adds more pressure.

Why was Calzaghe blasted so much for fighting in england when it seems if you move from your "home state" that is acceptable and regarded as fighting away.

    He was from Wales.

And I agree, it should be questioned.

I just wonder why it isn't questioned for US fighters.

No one should care about where the fights were its who he was fighting that got him blasted and called a hometown fighter. Same way Berto and Bute were blasted.

American fight fans are the least loyal in the world. No way we'd travel across the country singing about a Mayweather Wonderland like those damn Brits did with Hatton. Several occasions the foreigner has had the crowd advantage in the U.S. Only time we can argue its the American's automatic advantage is if the fight is in their home town, and that's not always the case. Just go and ask Juan Diaz about his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. The crowd has often cheered more for Mayweather's opponents than him, especially when he has faced a foreigner.

Then throw in the fact that US officials are so biased in favor of the home guy that it is criminal, there must be money changing hands somewhere

Recent scandalous examples include the joke that was rios abril, the heinous lara williams debacle, cloud v the poor campillo, alexander v (almost everyone he faces in st louis, no joke) and all the rest of em

So no advantage there at all really LOL

On top of that it looks like PEDS are rampant among US boxers, who knows whats going on......... ward with conte hopkins getting better with age etc, all need to be tested asap

Mayweather lives in vegas and mostly alot of fights is in vegas but most of the time the fans cheer other fighters to beat mayweather in vegas like the hatton fight for example.

But he was the champion so wasnt it down to others to come to him? He never refused to fight the big names and even signed a deal to fight Hopkins ect. The problem was no1 wanted to come to UK to fight him so we had the scenario where it was either the champion goes cap in hand to america to the challenger or the champion waited for the challengers to eventually come to him. This is the problem being hinted at here, even the champions and belt holders are almost forced to come to america to defend their own belts simply because very few americans will leave america ( Not all ofc ). A fairer system imo would be the champion gets to fight at home or in a palce of their choosing and the challengers should be FORCED to go to them.
