How much of a hot take is it that a peak Rocky Marciano wouldn't stop a peak Jimmy Ellis?

Jimmy Ellis couldn't even last a round with a blown up Mexican light heavyweight.

Well why don’t you break the fight down for us and tell us why you think Marciano wouldn’t be able to stop Ellis?

Not sure Ellis survives 15 against a guy like Marciano.

When he was motivated and in top shape in the mid to late 60's Ellis was a very capable fighter and it wouldn't shock me if he managed to go the distance with Marciano. However, after injuries and the long layoff going into the Frazier fight he just wasn't the same fighter.

He would definitely take Ellis out. Boxing like that just leaves Ellis a sitting duck against Marciano.

Jimmy had wins over Bonavena, Quarry, Patterson and Chuvalo. It's not a stretch for him to go the distance with Marciano especially with his boxing ability and a 7or 8 inch reach advantage.

Exactly. A focused Ellis could use his reach advantage and footwork
