How much of a hot take is it that Marciano wouldn't stop a prime Bonavena?

Hell, if butterball Cockell can go 9....

Marciano - Bonavena is a classic pick 'em match for most. But for me, I'd favor Ringo.

Neither Frazier nor Marciano were "boxers".

Ringo wasn't lazy in the ring, just plodding. He was a tough out. Rocky would have his hands full.

Bonavena most likely goes the distance but I believe Marciano would win.

Last I checked people who box are boxers? Point standing Marciano is just much more skilled.

Ringo had a set on him. He called Ali a chicken and told Smokin Joe he smelled. He's not going to be intimidated by Rocky.

You can watch Ringo? he was slug slow and lazy… he doesn’t need to be intimidated by Marciano to lose.

When did you start watching boxing? Literally yesterday?

Go watch Bonavena/Peralta and educate yourself.

Hate is a strong word. Perhaps you just dislike him or he’s not quite your cup of tea?

Ringo was a super tough dude, excellent chance of lasting the distance even before examining his chances of winning otherwise.

PS - To any prospective haters out there, I love Rocky. :D

Absolutely agree. Ali’s left hook was an ATG KO punch (or near enough to yielding an immediate KO) if there ever was one. The preceding and even shorter left hook wasn’t too shabby either.

I idolized Marcinao as a teenager and used to fanboy to anyone who would listen about him. He's THE fighter who got me into the sport.

I’ve always considered it a very real possibility that Bonavena would see the final bell against Marciano. The Frazier fights weigh heavily into this reasoning. With that said, is it guaranteed? No. Muhammad Ali managed to wear down Bonavena in the fifteenth and final round to deck Oscar three times. Therefore, a stoppage win for Marciano isn’t out of the question either.

Rocky's got no swerve, no twitch. Joe had all that and was a far better boxer.
