How much of a hot take is it that Marciano wouldn't stop a prime Bonavena?

Someone trying to claim Rocky was a skilled boxer is one of the worst takes I've EVER heard on this board.

Of just a few forum hero’s around here Ali, Frazier Cus and Dundee would disagree lol he was absolutely ugly to watch but absolutely skilled.

You're right about one part of that... there's no point in having any kind of discussion with you.

I'm watching Bonavena V Frazier. Frazier amazes. Bonavena is a load. Live dog against Rocky

Aside from his achievements in the ring, there is a LOT to like about Rocky - not least being his character and humility.

Ali's head fake before he clobbered Bonavena with the hook that ruined him was unearthly.

You should come back to these posts when you've spent some time learning about the sport.

I might be overreaching or waxing too lyrical, but I always thought that the hook that put Ringo down for the first KD bore shades of resemblance to the Ray Robinson hook that flattened Gene Fullmer.

Such powerful shots that caused both recipients to crash sideways is similar fashion - though Gene was of course immediately gone from the one shot while Ringo wasn’t far away from being gone….

While I appreciate the fatigue factor going into the 15th, I agree that punch would’ve caused major damage if landed anytime during the fight.

Ali himself was plenty tired going into the 15th of the FOTC but the Frazier left hook that put Ali down was still a peach of a punch in absolute terms.

The slow mo view from behind the fighters best conveys just how hard and accurate that punch was.

It would not be in any way a hot take.

    It is plausible.

However we also have to acknowledge that the opposite scenario might happen.

Ow that really hurts, I better go get some Bert Sugar mags and collect some more worthless trivia to help come to some in the ring boxing conclusions.
