How much of a legacy boost would Wlad get if he beats Joshua?

It will always be quite easy to dismiss. Joshua looks quality but has in actuality just recently taken the step from beating up tomato cans to beating up half-decent opposition and should still be on a pretty steep learning curve.

If Joshua would bounce back immediately from defeat to dominate the HW division after Wlad retires it would be more impressive.

He had to cheat to beat them too. That Pulev fight didn't look anything like a boxing match. Wlad bored in with a two handed fist pump at one point. and he set the canvas up with sponge so pulev couldn't move about. fight should have been ruled a NC.
The other big guys were not of any quality , apart from fury , who beat him easily.

It all depends what Joshua goes on to become.

If he retires tomorrow, he is a very minor belt holder.

Wach, for example, was a midget. He probably could have made cruiser. Without any arms or legs.

I think Joshua wipes Wlad out in short order. Wlad was awful against Fury and I know he faced a fighter with certain skills he hasn't seen in a long time but Wlad never struggled with boxers. Personally I think he's shot and Joshua would be on him straight away and would finish him inside 3 rounds.

It would be pretty similar to the kind of boost Larry Holmes would have got if he'd had beaten Tyson, not quite as much but along those lines....

I don't buy into the idea that "it depends on what Joshua goes on to do."
The value of a win doesn't depend on future events.

    It does, kind of.

If Joshua goes on to be the new Joe Louis, then a win over him has to boost Wlad's legacy.

If Joshua gets beaten like a red headed stepchild from here on out and retires a bum, Wlad beating him is almost worthless in terms of legacy.

I understand what you are saying in the context of some fighters having inconsistent form. Some guys can really stink out the joint some fights and other times they seem unstoppable. A win vs a fighter on a "good" night should weigh more heavily in the winner's favour, but what people will typically say is "oh, look X got exposed, he really struggled with Y last night."

    Yes Dino said that.

Dino is the least informed poster in the classic section. Always good for a laugh. Like I said he's not doing the hater types any favors with his posting.

Yeah, but, Mendoza, Wlad cheated big time in that fight. Just like he always cheats.

And only DinoCrazy can see it!

What's wrong with the rest of the world? :(

To me it would have to be his biggest win of his career.

You kidding? A 40 year old, battle worn champ, versus a huge guy in his prime that can box?

The things Wlad would have to do to win this match, would make this his best performance.
