Yep. But Dundee did admit on film there was torn glove in the Cooper fight and a several minute break. Its on ESPN classic every now and then when they do an Ali Marathon.

 

Yep, but the ACTUAL FILMED FOOTAGE only shows a delay of not more than a minute. It's on the actual filmed footage of the fight and every now and then on ESB we go over it again and again and again, to the same conclusion ...Dundee is sexing up the facts to jazz up the legend.

Not more than 10 seconds actually. But this is a very tough lived myth.

With due respect, where Ali is concerned, I believe him to be a man with an agenda, so such comments are expected ... how do you accept facts when they don't fit into your perspective? :hey

 

Yeah, I know, 'twas more like 7 or 8 seconds, but meh ... doesn't matter what the precise amount of seconds was, just the clear fact that it was nowhere close to the seven or so minutes suggested otherwise. The fact that said person is an ESB Classic long-timer and must've come across many an agreeing opinion that Dundee was jazzing up the tale, backed up by the actual film footage, yet, still maintains to use Dundee's words as if gospel, is somewhat interesting.

I thought that it was one of those myths that ESB Classic had debunked, rubbished and moved on from a very long time ago ... guess I was wrong. :?

 

Well factual film is a pretty good sell, as well as the quality of posters that have debunked this myth

 

The stitching around the thumb was open in the Cooper fight ,there was NOt a several minutes delay it was less than half minute at the most there was a programme here in the UK where it was timed There is more bull**** talked about this incident in uk fights than any other imo.

 

Yeah, well, I wouldnt take half the shots he's taken for double the luck, I'll say that much.

He was far from being viewed as unbeatable at the time of the first Cooper fight. Many were not sold on him being anything other than a brash, overhyped showman and he was a significant underdog in the first Liston fight.
