How much of an advantage do you think someone who started at 13-14 would have on someone who started at 16-18 but is a quick learner. Do you think it would be a big advantage?
Depends on the person ability. You could start at 2 and still be rubbish 15 years later. Then again you could start at 10 and be a phenom by the time you hit 15.
It ultimately depends on the individual. Age is a general measure, but it doesn't mean it is going to be right every time, there will always be exceptions, and you may be one. You may have started to late, or you may have started just at the right time. One thing I can tell you for sure, is that if you try, you may or may not succeed, but there is no way you will succeed if you quit, so you lose nothing from trying. Good luck.
Oh god...why is this hypothetical question even being asked? Are the opinions of strangers on the internet going to influence your decision to box or not? If so, you better quit now - or don't get started. Nothing to do with age, but everything to do with one's mindset. If you need coddling and reassurance, this isn't for you.
I guess if you have a strong sporting background and good core strength and fitness etc that starting late not as big a problem
What ive found in the ams, age isnt that much to do with things its more a case of quality hours of learning. You can spend yrs at 1 am club where the set up aint that good and 5 yr down the line u would of come on further spending 2 yr at a different club
