On a scale from 1-5. How much of an upset would it be that Cotto beat PBF. Im sure it would be considered an upset if the P4P king PBF lost. Taking this in a historical context and with as less nuthuggery on an honest assesment how much of an upset would this be.

1 being a very minor upset and 5 being like the mother of all upsets.

I rank this upset at 3.

    Agreed.

It also depends on how they look in their next fights.

If Mayweather-DLH 2 goes similar to Mayweather-DLH 1, where PBF looks unimpressive, and Cotto gets an impressive win over Margarito, then it'll be an even smaller upset.

I think that the bettin odds will be close. Im sure that most boxing pundits will pick PBF by UD but if Cotto dethrones PBF by UD or SD I don't think its like Douglas KO'ing Tyson type of an upset. It would really be an upset of major proportions if Cotto manages to KO PBF.

It wouldn't be much of an upset... It's the top two WW in the game today facing each other. Anything can happern in boxing. They are both pretty complete fighters and whoever adjusts best to his opponent's style will prevail on that night. I would say that Cotto will be against the odds because of how the boxing world views Floyd.

I really believe PBF is now on the decline and we shall see what he looks like against DLH. He has gotten the big money hasnt fought in almost a year is doing wrestling promotion living it up etc .........clearly the hunger is no longer there and well its all about the money and what he can get out of it. I dont think he will be the same and the longer he waits the greater the chances that Cotto beats him!!!! if they fight late in 2009 or 2010 and provided Cotto looks impressive vs Margo, it would not be a major upset I belive.

On the scale you've outlined I'd put it at about a 2 and if Cotto beats Margo impressively, it could pretty close to even among boxing fans. But betting odds could be different cause many just bet on name recognition and all they know is what they heard on WWE promotions.

Also I think that the HOW Cotto beats Mayweather will change the way the upset is looked upon. Take the Douglas vs Tyson upset. If Tyson would have lost by a SD then I don't think the upset would have been as big as the way the fight really ended.
