How much of Mike Tyson's success was due to his genes and how much to his training?

My IQ scores have been 78, 79 and 84 (verbal test) and 90 on a computer test. The average IQ of people in prison is 92.

Well, if you found a teenager, leaving 27" thighs and a 20" neck @5'11"/lean 219 pounds of fast twitch muscle, looking like a bloated rhino AFTER you put that kid on a diet with daily road workout, then you might be in for an (imaginary) experiment ;)

Of course its no task finding such physique on the next neighbourhood streets, right?

I am sorry you have been duped by the new age equality mindset....there is a dramatic intellectual horsepower difference between an Albert Einsteins problem solving ability vs your average person

But why? The brain is just an organ, Einstein didn`t have special brain.

Fair point in terms of his upbringing causing him to be more vicious, but who is to say there wasn't a natural propensity to go in this direction? You get some people born in rough circumstances that are not aggressive at all or have the killer instinct. Its either within you or not, arguably from birth.

The mods really should delete all this offtopic IQ talk before it gets even uglier.

Well the brain is an organ I agree however some are empowered with a more capable organ than others....the more neurologist study the more they learn about the differences between brains such as the evidence that psychopaths are born with the neurons "firing of the brain processing information" different than your average person....the same with brain damage effecting behaviors such as the frontal lobe....scientist have studied brains since they got the hunch it was what gave us our problem solving ability and it separated from apes

Brains are not all the same. To posit such is to make a similar assertion that people have the same bodies and athletic capabilities when that's patent nonsense. Clever parents typically have clever children and dumb people I have known have typically had equally uninspiring ancestors. On the other hand genetic predisposition is also not written in stone since I've seen a smart family have a kid as dumb as a box of rocks and so forth.

Why stop at 1999 then? I mean, Nielsen pulled the trick in 2001. So did Danny Williams in 2004 and Kevin McBride in 2005.

If you can't see post-prison Tyson was visibly worse than pre-prison then I can't help ya. I think he was starting to slide even in the Douglas fight tbh.

Of course he was worse after prison and years of partying and personal drama and media superstardom. And you think that observation is proof that Cus's training drills were a more important component of Tyson's success than Tyson's physical abilities were? I don't see how reasonable people can believe this.

    OK.
Here's a guy that has the physical ability to make Tyson look like a breadstick:

I'm still betting on Tyson in a boxing match.

    Why?

    Because he's the boxer. :deal:

A complete non-sequitur of a post but yeah--I'd pick a trained boxer to beat a strongman in a boxing match too. No bearing whatsoever on how Tyson would have fared with a "regular" trainer instead of Cus but cool post.
