I think it varies massively depending on who is involved and how marketable they are. Two dull fighters that no one really cares about probably struggle to make £30k whereas when groves and degale fought for the Lonsdale belt they made a fortune!

By a fortune you mean £160k and £240k respectively before all deductions etc ?????

Someone on here said that Callum Smith and Rocky Fielding made a mil each for their British title fight. Ive always wondered whether they were anywhere near right because it seems a bit much to me.

I know a fighter, got 36k for a British title fight and 10% of every ticket he sold. That was 4-5 years ago.

I'm pretty sure groves degale was the most lucrative in recent memory

Yeah I'd imagine Groves v Deglae and AJ v Whyte have been the most lucrative given both were PPV.

Yes I have no doubt it probably was,BJS-Eubank Jr also generated decent coin for both and around the Degale-Groves mark which they split around 400k,FW recently won the purse bid for Eubank Jr v Langford he admitted to paying well over the odds a whopping 300k.

Smith v Fielding on general SS they would of got a purse split BETWEEN them of approx 100-200k then after deductions and the tax man gets his pound of flesh people would be shocked what fighters walk away with.Trust me that was a high purse for a British title fight.

The general range for your average British title fight depending on weight (generally the lower the weight the lower the pay with rare and I mean very rare exceptions) from knowledge I know of purse pots between the 20-100k range people that is the overall purse bid not for each fighter. You get fights like Smith-Fielding a local derby, two big ticket sellers but the beauty for the promoter he has both fighters and the TV platform!

At a guess I would say £150k. But depends if on Sky or Box Nation.

Guys how it works in bad cases.I don't want to go off on the non-British title part but cast your minds back (those of my generation) to the night Frank Bruno fought Terrible Tim Witherspoon at Wembley 1986.I want to use this as an example of even when you have confirmation of large fight purses it only covers the surface. When you scratch under it you would be shocked.

Bruno his purse was 1.1 m$ walked away after expenses, managers, trainers fees with circa 900$ fantastic money for the challenger managed by Mickey Duff.Bruno got a share of the live gate Witherspoon didn't,Bruno was the challenger his deductions more than fair.

Tim Witherspoon was delivered by Mr.King to HBO the USA network taking the fight for 1.7$m his end of the purse.Tim was managed by Carl King, promoted by Don King to circumnavigate the Ali law.It is a law that stops the conflict of interest in theory your manager tries to neg the maximum purse and trust me the promoter wants you for as little as he can pay Carl was a cheerleader no more,no less.....nothing personal business.

To lay it out due to Carl being the manager on paper he received a negotiated cut of 33% of Witherspoon's earnings.Don received his cut also the only certainty of how things ran.The contract he was signed to,he was liable for ALL expenses for which his team would deduct. He paid for everything from $5 dollars for the handwraps used,$54 dollars for his robe,$94 for his cup to the meals, hotel's,sparring partners to the fights they milked him dry.He won the fight and walked away with a cheque for $90,000.
