How much rest does a fighter need after an early KO?

A fighter like Price spend at least 8 weeks in training camp which has to be funded. He then wins in a round. Why do we not see him in a non title fight on the next Maloney bill rather than resting before training for a May fight. It is not just Price as most fighters at Price's level operate like this. It seems a really inefficient way of building your record.

However footballers sometimes play 3 times a week and the Six Nations Rugby only has 1 weekend off in a series.

What even an 8 rounder against a Eurobum to tick over?

"Hi David, do you fancy training for a fight against a bum for **** money?"

    "Sounds fantastic, Frank!"

I agree with Colin but unfortunately a half decent opponent isn't always easy to come by in this day and age with no TV money. ****, I know.

Should be fighting again within 4 weeks IMO

1 week off after the fight, keep the weight down then a couple of weeks back in the gym.

His fitness, ring sharpness etc etc will all be there, only issue should be keeping a few pounds over the weight within the week off. Few gentle runs etc etc

  7. One argument I don't get is the ''no TV money, no opponent'' argument.

I'd rather get paid a little bit than not at all, plus you never know.... you could cause an upset and get another opportunity down the line.

Plus, promoters need to start actually promoting, as opposed to just booking the venue and subcontracting out the ticketing arrangements to firms like Ticketmaster.

Any dumb ****er can do that.

I was thinking on behalf of tight-fisted promoters (and fighters happy enough to keep their '0') and it's not something I agree with.

  9. Yeah I know :good

I think the sense of entitlement that the young amateur cross overs have doesn't help. They're forever talking about ''can't afford me'' or ''I'm giving you your biggest payday'' as if you should bow down and say thanks.

Would be great if they all got levelled one by one, preferably by someone they really disliked. Would certainly teach them a lesson.

  11. Price is one of the few that doesn't spout off about how much he earns, what car he drives or that he's doing his opponent a favour.

That charge could be levelled at the likes of Gavin and DeGale, having met Frankie and seen DeGale talking with fans at York Hall I was surprised to hear it from both.

DeGale is obviously a bit thick, but Frankie surprised me the way he started carrying on with Woodhouse, he was made to look like a bit of a dick too at the presser when it was announced - as was Arnie for that matter :-(

    I agree with this.

I don't subscribe to the bull**** that fights are won in the gym.....The moves and routines that mark a path to victory are worked out in the gym but a fighter has to execute them when being hit in anger and if this only happens 3 or 6 minutes every 6 months what chance has a decent prospect got of learning properly and progressing with confidence in his ability?

Inactivity is so counter-productive and stunts growth.

He'd get paid a decent amount for an easy nights work. He comes in at 70%, beats a bum in a few rounds and earns a small percentage of what he would on a card headlined by himself. Thats not a bad deal, I don't think, especially when a numerically impressive record is important in the long term.

The only downside is the risk of injuries, especially those to the hands. If the fighter has no history of hand injuries, I see no reason why they'd turn down the offer to earn a few grand, make their record more impressive and stay busy.
