Not too much. He was past it.

The Phillips ko loss was worse.

Kostya a bit overrated on here and elsewhere.

Didn't he have a swollen brain? If so, I don't call that quitting.

Try telling Judah, that Tszyu was over rated along with the other 24 fighters he stopped, out of 34 fights. Funny when people rave about Mayweather beating the same Judah, on points.

No, Hatton wasn't a bum, but Tszyu was past it when they fought...and no, retiring from boxing is never a disgraceful thing. Kostya knew that the fans don't pay his medical bills. What I think hurts his legacy somewhat was not rematching Vince Phillips when in his prime.

Well, Kostya Tszyu became a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

So, I'm going to say it didn't hurt his reputation in the slightest.

That and the Vince fight proved that Kostya had a stylistic weakness, but I wouldn't read much into it as to his ability to beat the guys who don't bring that to the table.

Meldrick Taylor, Frankie Randall and even possibly Roger Mayweather had a higher peak level than Tzyu, but Kostya did make a ton of defenses over two reigns. Of course his overall level of competition was not very high. The flawed Zab Judah was undoubtedly his best win.
