Winning a gold medal means a lot, but also having lots of amateur fights with many different styles. Vladimir Klitschko was a gold medalist, so was Ali, Foreman, Lewis, etc., not to mention all the other weights.............

    Shouldnt count.

You've got places like Cuba where guys stay amateur their whole careers and everyone thinks its amazing that they win a lot of medals.

Large parts of the bopxing world have very little in the way of amateur fighters. Mexico, and Central America has a huge tradition of boxing but most of their best fighters go pro at 17 or so.

In America and the UK, the best amateurs try to get one big shot at the olympics when they're in their late teens/early 20s and use it as showpiece for any pro promoters in the crowd.

Lewis could have stayed amateur and won 3-4 Olympics as well. He didnt, he won it and went pro.

The loss of headgaurd and with amateur fighs now scored using the 10 point must system the difference between amateur and pro boxing is a lot smaller now and are very similar, also wsb and apb boxing means they will be boxing for more rounds

They still use pillows though right?

Definitely and improvement. London was a god damn farce.

I like the WSB, gives a great transition to the pros.

I pretty sure the gloves are the same weight the padding is distributed differently though, still if you hit someone right there getting knocked out, checked out medzhidov knocking out dychko at the world championships it was brutal ,

Wsb is the the judging is shocking though
