He won't be able to establish a jab if you consider that neither Baldomir nor Hoya could and that he he is extremelly disadvantaged in reach and speed with the left lead. Chavez almost didn't throw jabs against Whitaker cause Sweet Pea was so much faster/consistent with his right lead but whenever he got close, he made it up with body punches and short right counters as Pernell would rotate to his right ( Chavez' left). What Hatton has to do in my view, is adjust technically to Mayweather but not try to beat him at his own game. B'sides, nodoby can use jab stats alone to claim victory to one particular fighter and thusly, Hatton doesn't have to jab more to win the fight. He has to get in though...
GOOD POST.....you stated Hatton had to adjust to Floyd and i just think that he is being prepared for this fight all wrong.
Hatton must weave his way in and and lunge in with a scorching hook to the ribs and proceed to maul and elbow and grab and outwork PBF round after round he has to be in PBF' CHEST all night digging to the body and head the only thing that can win it for Hatton is his physicality. For one night he has to bring it like he never has before push and push take the punches and throw throw throw and throw some more maul him thats his only chance to eek out a decision thats the way for Hatton to win. Be on top of PBF WINGING TO THE BODY THEN HEAD EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY ROUND HE HAS THE STYLE THAT WILL DEFEAT PBF! IS HE STRONG AND QUICK ENOUGH TO DO IT. GO WATCH DURAN V LEANORD 1 THAT IS HOW RICK HAS TO FIGHT. I dont know if Rick is as dynamic as Duran? He can do it but it has to come from inside.
WIth just over a week to go, it's a little to late for Team Hatton to learn how to throw a proper jab!
