I created a thread about Manny's stamina and his ability to throw hard punches non stop is gone. But what about Floyd. His legs are his greatest strength and they're not there like they were. When he fought Gatti he was gliding around like he was on an air hockey table. Floyd isn't doing that anymore. We've seen him get hit way more than what Floyd should be getting hit in his most recent fights.
It depends, Floyd at his peak could just rely on his cat reflexes to get him out of a rut but the older Floyd now relies on anticipation and his ability to read what his opponents combinations are going to be. It's one of the reasons he has looked sloppy, missing punches in his last couple of bouts.
It will not affect him people are in for a surprise. I think the fight will be a total mismatch Floyd will outbox Manny for 12 rounds and people will say after the fight how did we not see that coming? I mean seriously if you are supposed to have a chance at beating Floyd you should be taller, have more reach and be a very good boxer, applying pressure and throwing punches while you are shorter and less reach will not help at all. It will be a Ricky Hatton type like fight only difference is that Manny is a southpaw. No disrespect Manny is a better boxer than Ricky but his plan will be the same because size counts in boxing thats why we have weight divisions, Manny is not fighting a robot he is fighting the best technical boxer of this era. People are in for a big disappointment.
It all depends. I don't expect him to use his cross guard and shoulder roll much in this fight. Quick legs are essential in that defense. That's one of the reasons Floyd has been hit more. Contrary to common wisdom that defensive style doesn't age very well because of how quick your legs need to be. In his high guard quick feet are less important. And that is what I expect him to use. But Floyd however isn't as good of a fighter out of his high guard. There are plenty of defensive high guard specialists who are better than Floyd.
He was very mobile vs Maidana, how gone are his legs, he moved fine in Maidana 2 and Guerrero and vs Alvarez I don't think movement is gonna be a major problem
I just dont think it will be a major issue for him. He will be mobile enough to outbox Manny fairly comfortably in my opinion.
Im not comparing them read again fool. I said the fight will turn out to be the same because size matters and Pacquiao will/can only fight Floyd the same way Hatton did because of the size
I dont think his legs will be an issue... his legs were supposed to be shot long ago, but truth of the matter is that he chose to fight like that in the Cotto, and first Maidana fight... The fights the fans started saying this.. Maidana 2 he used his legs alot, canelo and guererro he used his legs so i dont see it as a problem heading into the May 2nd showdown with Pac.
I thought that too watching the Floyd/Hatton fight the other day... Pac will rush Floyd with his speed and will get tied up the same way as Hatton did Imo... Thing is Pac will have more success then Hatton, but as far as comparing the 2 that would be ludacris... i knew what you meant, but it gets really annoying when Pac fans use the "lol comparing pac to hatton"line! Truth is the only thing comparable between the 2 is the aggression and footwork, but the Pac fans are too fanatical to understand that.. #Pacmania will come to an end May 2nd!:mj
If he comes into this fight looking like how he did in the first Maidana fight it's all over for Floyd.
