Floyd's unbeaten zero is almost his only claim to greatness.
Assume he loses now ... how much will he drops in the ranks?

For example Hatton was unbeaten at some point then he lost
twice to two #1 p4p fighters in the world which shouldn't be a shame
in any way but after that people are laughing at him in contexts
    of his ATG/HOF type status.

So if Floyd loses, how much his stock will drop, where will
he be standing in the ATG ranks ... somewhere #20-30, #40-60 ...
.... or just much below Calzaghe who ended his career being unbeaten?

It won't drop much, But unfortunately HIS confidence will take the hit.
(The public & boxing fans won't hold it against him, Unless they are haters)

**** happens when you fight the best.

It all depends on what he does AFTER.

If he does nothing and retire with 1 defeat with Mosley, I put him in the 40-50 range. Currently, I have him somewhere in the upper 30s range. His stock would drop a little because it is very easy to argue that Mosley is not in his prime. Still formidable, just not in his prime.

He can easily rematch Mosley, beat him and beat Pac and he would get in the top 30 range (low 20s).

Right now, he is living off the aura of his technical skills and his own PR than actual recent accomplishments.

True and True:deal. Even if he loses that shouldn't take away what he's done pre-Castillo.

nobody beats him at 147 , so his 0 will not go , also i dont think he has anymore than 3 fights left.

Considering many fault Cotto for winning a "close" (UD) fight against a "past it" Mosley... Floyd losing to Mosley 3 years later should drop his stock significantly.

If Cotto barely gets credit for his win over Mosley how can a Floyd loss to an older Mosley not drop his stock?

If he always had been fighting the best then what you stated is true. Took him forever to finally fight a top WW and for the one time he did and end up losing, it would affect him a decent bit. But if he comes back and continue to fight the top fighters and win majority of it then it will even out some.

His achievements at 130 and 135 are enough to get him into the HOF. He's also held, at minimum, the WBC belt in 5 weigh-classes.

By contrast Hatton was lineal champion at one weight and a two weight-class champion.

I think it would affect him a lot in the public's perspective since he talks constantly about his zero and almost exclusively uses this as his public claim to be the greatest ever. However, if he lost to Mosley it would depend a lot on what Mosley did afterwards, revisionist history can be either very kind or very cruel to boxers.

No one faults Cotto for that...it's generally considered his best win and only truly elite win. The only stick he gets is for how close the fight wass.

While there are people who do give him credit for his win there are probably as many if not more people on ESB who would argue he didn't even win the fight. And there are also those who give him crap for fighting a close competitive fight with an elite WW fighter in Mosley. Considering that is frequently the perception in regards to Cotto's UD win over Mosley I would have to assume a Floyd loss to Mosley 3 years later would have a considerable impact on his legacy. Especially when you consider this would be the first time Floyd faced a top WW since moving to the division. (Please save the Baldo lineal champ BS.)

Some of the best fighters have all lost! Need to experience how it is to lose to be great.

I think Mosleys stock should go up more than Mayweathers dropping. Shane is still a dam good fighter.

His stock will drop a lot if he can't beat a 38 yr old.
