How come there is still doubts that it will come off? After all that was said and written, they should fight for nothing and in an empty arena - if they get into other matches at this point, they should be both erradicated from boxing! I don't feel like saying how much I would be betting after these late rumours that the fight is OFF, actually I feel like I want to murder someone!
If this fight gets signed, I will be putting about 50% of the money I have left from boxing betting last year on it, which is way more than I have ever bet on one fight. Calzaghe has a 99% chance of winning this fight and I'm also very confident in a TKO win. The more I think about it, the more I believe Hopkins will be completely shot by the time he fights in April. He's been choosing winnable fights against nearly shot fighters(Tarver/Winky), who he had a style advantage against and fighting Calzaghe at this closing part of his career is insane. Bernard's age will show in this fight. He's 43 for God's sake and he's fighting one of the best, if not the best fighter in the world, who has wanted this fight for years and will not be fighting a safe fight.. he will be trying to steamroll through Bhop. I'll put 40% of the money I get from the straight win on a Calzaghe TKO. I see Hopkins getting stopped after not responding to Calzaghe swarming him late in the fight and there is a very good chance he might also lose by DQ. Bernard will be in a desperate situation like never before and he has a huge ego, so he will be fighting dirtier than ever if he sees he can't win. If the fight really comes off, it will be a very strange night for me. Although the money will be good, Hopkins is one of my favorite fighters ever and it will be really sad to see him go out on such a low note. I wish he would just fight Jones for pride/ego and retire. :-(
I won't bet on boxing because boxing is crooked. Realize that Calzaghe will be fighting in Vegas with criminal judges, will need a knockout to get a split decision. Ref will also be on the take, most likely. However, Calzaghe will outbox Hopkins, out speed him, so he should get the win, but...............
Will be betting a pretty good amount on Hopkins. Great value in a bet with him. Calzaghe has never fought anyone with Hopkins ring intelligence before.
Damn, Hopkins is old, but I can't bet against him, he's pulled off too many upsets (Trinidad, Tarver, etc). I guess I'm not betting. If some twist in the universe happens and Hopkins pulls off another crazy upset... so many of you are ****ed!!! :hat
Someone pointed out the bias referee and judges. I think that is very true, but I am pretty sure Calzaghe will beat Hopkins convincingly to the point if the results differ, all hell will break loose after the fight and in the aftermath no one will take the decision seriously.
I dont like betting on boxing, let alone in the states. Judge 1) Mr. In-the-pocket-of-Golden-Boy-Promotions of Los Angeles, Ca Judge 2) Mrs. LovemynewLexus of Cleveland, Ohio Judge 3) Mr. Iwannaworkagaininthistown of Atlanta, GA Good luck Joe.
If Hopkins is a big betting underdog than yer, I'd be putting my money on Hopkins. Although not a huge amount, I see this fight as very even, leaning towards Calzaghe though.
