In your personal estimation how much money would both men be throwing away if they were to not fight each other?

I've heard they would both be getting $25 million purses + PPV's. Let's say Floyd actually fights Matthew Hatton and Pac fights Mosley what would they be making there?

It may not be as much as people think. 1+1 does not always equal 2. You have to think on marginal rates of return when analyzing revenues.

Okay first so the big variable is PPV revenue, it has to be split between two big names. They might be able to get more of it by fighting lesser opponent. Also, Mayweather and PAcman already do well on PPV. If they can sell a million wihtout each other, do you really think they will sell 2 million with each other? Of course not, there is market overlap. It's quite possible that these guys have maxed out the market potential.

Then there is a downside of garnering a loss. A loss means that these guys next fight won't gnerate as much interest. So if you fight safe opponents, you can keep doing that and it's practically a guaranteed $10 milion. You go for the big 25 million, and one guy wins big, the other now can't take on lesser fighters for a an easy $10 mil. They might lower thier worth to $2 mil or whatever.

I don't know the answer, but I do think people tend to overestimate the financial rewards of making a superfight. There's a reason these things are hard to come by. No one wants to lose out on the future $$$.
