How much would Mosley's stock rise in an ATG sense if he took Floyd's zero?

I don't have a concrete all-time pound-for-pound top 100 list, but I do have a vague idea of where I think certain fighters should be placed.

From this era, I think the top bracket of fighters is: Pacquiao, Jones Jr, Hopkins, Mayweather Jr.

For me, Shane is not quite on that level as of now.

I rank Shane slightly higher than guys like Tito, JM Marquez, Winky, Calzaghe and Tszyu, but slightly lower than guys like Barrera, Morales, Oscar, Toney and Lennox.

I'm not saying that Shane at his best wasn't as good as those guys, but I am a bit of a sceptic when it comes to Shane's resume. He has one sensational win on there (Oscar 1), one excellent win on there (Margarito), a big win that he didn't deserve (Oscar 2), and after that there isn't much else of any great value IMO.

However, if he was the man to take Floyd's zero that would be a MASSIVE win. It would not only improve his resume substantially, but would surely have a big impact on his ATG standing.

Right now I think Shane would fall into the 85-100 bracket. How do you think a win over Floyd will affect his legacy and ranking?

There was a time when Shane was the best fighter on the planet and ranked above Hop Jones and Mayweather in the P4P stakes. Like Roy Jones says "Y'all must have forgot".

If Floyd loses this fight he just wasn't as great as some people thought he was. A great win nonetheless, but it wont propel him enormously up any ATG list.

Anytime you beat the best figher in your era your stock shoots up

So I expect that If Shane wins then they'll say the best of this era is either him or Manny

I think most people will put him in that bracket that you mentioned

Personally, I think he is a good fighter but I honestly dont rate him that highly.

I rank him below Winky, somewhere near Tito

Assuming Floyd dominates Mosley and then Manny beats Floyd uncontroversially, then he probably jumps about 10 spots on the all-time list. Right now he's probably in the 20-30 range, that pushes him up just outside the top 10, if not into it.

If Mosley beats Mayweather, His name would surely be with Jones, Pac, Hopkins, Mayweather as an all time great.

Depends on how people take his win.

If the majority find his win as an exposure on Mayweather, then not much.

But if they take it as they beat one of the best fighters of the era, then everyone will want a piece of him

Significant enough to make Floyd's fans cry, LOL. In all seriousness, he will be up there with the greats. Shane was the man at 135lbs.

We didn't forget. He lost five fights to Forrest, Wright and Cotto after he ascended (briefly) to the top spot.

Come on man, no-one can seriously take this view:

That would be ridiculous. Like him or not (and I don't), Floyd is proven quality and one of the best of his era. If SSM beats him, it will be MASSIVE and no-one can deny that.

It separates Mosley from the likes of Barrera, Morales, Oscar, Toney, and Mayweather in my judgment. A top 50 place for me. Mosley's longevity, resume, and achievements would certainly warrant it.

    How has he proved this?

Unlike many, I do believe one win can make an enormous impact on someone's ATG standing. A Mosley win over Mayweather would be a win of truly titanic proportions. It would see him rocket up in my estimations.
