How much would Mosley's stock rise in an ATG sense if he took Floyd's zero?

I don't understand this logic. If Mayweather loses vs Mosley, he will have lost to a fighter who was considered the best during his peak and is still one of the best fighters around. It's not like he's going to lose to a bum or a mediocre fighter, he's gonna lose to another great fighter. I don't get why one loss should mean so much. Many great fighters of the past or even the present have lost some fights, almost every boxer does, but this doesn't mean they weren't or aren't great.

Good post.... We all know how great Mayweather is, i expect him to win, but a loss here would not make me think for one second that he is not a great fighter, it would only boost Mosley's status in my opinion.:yep

One of the most widely believed myths in boxing. Absolute tripe.

At the time, I think Corrales was #5 p4p and Floyd was #7. Mayweather had been imperious in wiping out guys like Genaro Hernandez and Manfredy at the weight, Corrales had not beaten anyone on Hernandez's level at that point. If anything, Corrales was a very slight favourite with the slim majority, purely because he was a puncher. But to be honest, this was a Calzaghe vs Lacy scenario. One guy was built up unjustifiably because he could punch, but many many people were aware that his opponent was by far the superior boxer.

Seriously, to say he was a heavy favourite when 2 spots separated them on the p4p scale and Mayweather had the better win of the two is simply not true. It was more or less even with the bookies as I recall, and I'm sure Corrales had only a very slight majority of writers backing him.

Excellent top 10. My top 10 of the decade is the same 10 guys, with a slight difference in the ordering of fighters 4-7. I agree with you on Shane's placing should he win.

It depends on how shane wins and how floyd looks.
    If shane outboxes floyd, absolutely.
If shane breaks his D and get's a sloppy KO, it'll be good, but not amazing.
