Ruiz was 268lbs in his last fight with Joshua.

I'm guessing he is carrying at least 40kg of excess fat.

If he cut down to Wilder or Joshua levels of body fat I reckon he would be small even for a cruiserweight and could possibly make light heavyweight.

AJ would walk thru him. Let him stay chunkified.

Ruiz is a naturally heavy set guy, I dont think he could function at 200lbs or under. 220lbs I would think would be his limit... whether that would make him more or less effective however is the real question.

I think he's just a bit bigger than Mike Perez. He was fat for a very long time so he should have very muscular legs even if he loses all the weight. I guess he could be 210 with a strict diet. He could go as low as cruiserweight if he was a bit younger.

If he were to get to around 8% bodyfat he would easily make cruiser. Anyone saying he’s naturally a big guy etc and wouldn’t be able to get under 200 simply doesn’t understand how nutrition or calories in/calories out work.

Literally anyone can get to 8% bodyfat and still function absolutely perfectly if they eat in accordance to their energy expenditure.

So, the naturally small size heavyweight / cruiserweight KO'd the big super heavy.

    What does natural heavyset mean?

What is this natural heavy weight thing. A regular 6'6 person does not weigh 220+lbs unless they do weight lifting and eat lots of food.

Yeah, Perez was the one I was thinking of. I think Ruiz could get down to around 200 quite feasibly (not easily, at this stage) and still function at a high level, albeit more fleet of foot and less standing in the pocket. He's big, but he's not ridiculously stocky like Tua was.

Someone like Tua or Tyson was heavyset. Someone like Chris Byrd was not.

Wouldn't even need to be that low. 8% body fat is approaching bodybuilder standard, and would likely have detrimental effects on Ruiz's performance. 10 or 12 would be better.

Guessing he was 30% for Joshua and moves to 10%.

    40 kgs? wtf?
No way is Ruiz carrying an extra 90 lbs of just fat.

If you actually look at him, its clear that Ruiz is quite muscular and a thick dude in general. Ruiz would probably be around 220 if he dropped all of the excess weight.

If you look at Ruiz’s body he literally has no discernible musculature under the blubber. He’s not like other fat HWs we’ve seen over the years like Perez or even Lucas Browne who could clearly cut the fat and look beastly at a far lower weight. If Ruiz quit boxing and decided to lean down he would end up looking like absolute ****.

I'm 189cm and one time when I was unwell a few years ago for several months (long story, but it got to the stage where I couldn't keep down even bread, before I was sick) I ended up looking pretty skinny. I went from being muscular to looking like a rake. The lightest I got was 95kg. Some people are just naturally heavier.
