You know, I think you're right. Maybe I'm remembering a build-up promotion to the show.

I remember watching something on, I think it was, NBC about the fight. And I remember Al Michaels calling the fight but I guess it was for HBO and not NBC.

I had it in my head the fight was on NBC.

I remember watching it at my grandparents' house with my family. But it may have been a replay. I have to do some digging to get the information about the broadcasting of the fight. Maybe I saw a tape delay of the fight.

I'm going to correct myself above. I also remember watching Spinks-Holmes 1 in 1985 at my grandparents' house, but that fight was on HBO. I thought it was on free tv. I believe it was on "free" HBO.

My grandparents must have had HBO at the time. I just forgot.

So I take back the "Hagler vs Hearns on free tv" comment.

Ok, I found more info on the Hagler/Hearns broadcast stuff.

It was on PPV, apparently, as well as closed circuit. And it was also apparently shown on a delayed HBO broadcast.

Additionally, the fight was shown on ABC (free tv in the USA) two months later.

I thought I saw it live, but that might be wrong. I don't know when the HBO delayed broadcast took place.

Im 38, started boxing training at 9 at the local lads club and did that for a couple of years. Watched the big fights on free tv before that and at that time but there wasnt much on apart from British fighters. Did 2 years of ams as a young teenager before beer, drugs, cigs and ho's caught my attention. Did another 5 amature fights when i was 22/23 but realised that while i could punch very well, my movement, defense and speed was dog sheyt and i was never gonna be any good.

Uncle took me to watch Eubank v Benn 1 in 1990 live at the NEC in Birmingham when i was 11 or 12 and i was hooked on live fights. I have been to at least 1 big fight every year since and normally go to 2-3 big fights each year and plan mini holidays around them. I still go to small hall shows in the north of england and glasgow 3-4 times a year when im back in the UK. The boxing scene in sweden is pretty small and quiet compared to the UK so i rarely watch anything here.

So in total been watching for 31+ years and been active in the ring or gym for 26 years on and off.

I´m 74 and I´ve been a boxing fan since Ingemar Johanssons early days as a pro. Heavyweight and Middleweight are my favorite weight classes. Best heavyweights I´ve seen: Rocky Marciano, Cassius Clay, young Tyson, best middleweights: Sugar Ray Robinson, Gennady Golovkin.

I'm 44 as of today 09/11. I fell in love with boxing in 1980 after watching Leonard-Duran both 1 and 2. Especially after 2 SRL was the best thing since sliced bread to me after watching him make Duran say No Mas.. Michael Jackson w/ Muscles they called him...
