If journeyman is your aspiration you can achieve it. Hard work and dedication for a decade will lead you to that glorious day of being fed to a prospect.

Just go for it man, some people pick it up faster then others. Since you are 21 just give it extra time and more dedication.

Don't listen to anyone here. If it's your dream to become a pro boxer, then go for it.

Don't aim to become just a journeyman though.. aim much higher..

I'm pretty sure most of the people here wanted to become a boxer at some point in their lives, I know I did.

At 21 anything is possible. You gotta do like your heart and guts tells you to do. If you don't take action now you're gonna regret it later. Carpe diem.

I started lifting when I was 29 and I've done pretty well even though I only lift at home. I wish I had started earlier. Good thing is that testosterone levels don't start to degrade until you hit 40. I'm 32 now and I still got plenty of potential to get stronger.

If you believe in what you do and don't show any quit, the sky is the limit.

Now, get your ass of that chair, turn of the computer and go practice. :bbb

Tony Thompson started boxing at 27, I believe. Two-time world title challenger, still a well-regarded contender at 42. It can be done.

21 is fine, less wear and tear in your body so you would be peaking at 30, depends on how much work you put in.

Also depends largely on weight class, lower weight class requires more skill because they are faster therefore need better reflexes, better coordinated and you're competing with Mexicans whos been boxing since 5 years old. With heavyweights, plenty of examples of late starters, the weight class can rely more on physical gifts than pure skill.

Testosterone actually starts to dip from around your mid 20s.

That would explain some things. :(

Now I read into this a little and some articles say that it starts to drop when you're 30. :huh

    Oh well.

Seriously now don't listen to the naysayers. They're just gutted they can't do well themselves

21 is older than usual, not too old though. Loads of great boxers started in their early 20s/late teens. Rocky Marciano, Bernard Hopkins (still going on at 49!!), Antonio Tarver, Sonny Liston, George Foreman, Audley Harrison to name a few. There's more but I can't think.
