the commentary said 43 {which is funny when you see a lot of articles say moore was a few months shy of his 42nd birthday against marciano 7 years earlier}...most say he was 46...others say he was definetly 49.
boxrec and wikipeadia have different birth dates for him.

you lot will know....how old was the old mongoose ?

Well, if he won the LHW title at age 39 in 1955 (it was '55 wasn't it?) then that would put him at 47 or 48, depending on his birthday.

I thought Arch won it in '52? which would make him 49/50 - I've always heard he was fifty against 20 yr old Clay

I'm sure it was '52, yeah, my mistake; I'm thinking of the Marciano fight I believe. Oops.

The Answer is 45(nearly 46). Archie was born in 1916. 52 is hogwash. Don't believe it.

**** i'd heard 48 but hearing he may have been in his 50s?? puts a 4th round knockout into perspective: how many light heavies EVER could have last until the 4th with a motivated clay in their 50s??
