Formidable yes, watching the fight he was still a top fighter. BUT that was not his best weight and Rock had possibly the greatest endurance, durability and tenancity of any heavyweight champion ever. A 42 year old man could not possibly be expected to keep up with that pace and pressure
It all depends on which birthday you accept to be his true birthdate. Some say 1913, Archie used to say 1916. I remember reading about this in a book on Moore's life, and I think people tend to accept 1913 as his real year of birth, but as far as I recall, I think it's still a matter for debate. So, he conceivably may have been three years younger, depending on what you believe. :good
Agh! I was gonna make the "137 years old" crack. Seriously, no one knows exactly how old Moore was for certain. It was either in 1913 or 1916. 1916 might be more believeable in that it makes the age at the time he accomplished his various amazing feats a little less ridiculous, but I believe the government officially considered him to have been born in 1913. Basically, he was somewhere between 38 and 42 years old. Regardless, though, he was a freak of nature and the latest bloomer on the world-class scale in the history of the sport.
No one knows anything about Moore except that he fought Ali and Marciano....no birth date, no exact number of fights, nothing - the man is a mystery but someone i wouldnt want to be in the ring with thats for sure lol
