How old was Archie Moore when he fought Marciano?

    49, when he fought Ali. James Toney is the modern day "Archie Moore". When you look at Archie and Jt, you see a lot of similiarities.

    Not really. Toney needs a helluva lot more fights to be in that ballpark. Like double.

    Archie Moore has the greater legacy and much more fights. However if any fighter should be compared to Archie these days it is JT.

    - similar fighting style (old school) (no running, defensive abiility, very relax in the ring...)
    - not afraid to fight anyone regardless of weight class
    - competitive at late age
    - lots of fights (Toney has over 80)

    He went back and won and defended the LHW title. Also he beat HW contenders to get his shot at Marciano.

    Yes he was formidable.
