How on earth can anyone think Shane was winning that fight?

Let's not forget the in close body punches Mayorga was landing.

As to the holding and rabbit punching. Hopkins gets away with it and is treated like a god.

So your saying Mayorga's percentage should be even less than 9?

I don't know how you got that out of my statement.

Do you look way beyond what is clear and in front of you in favor of the far away and hidden in real life too, or only in boxing posts...???

Well, I will watch the replay tomorrow and turn the sound off but I counted more than that. I did not see Mosley doing anything noteworthy through most of the fight except for some great right hand leads. It's hard for me to think of Mosley on top in this fight prior to the last round. But I'll suspend judgement for now as seeing a fight second time around is better than the first. Mosley pulled out the ko and that's all that counts.

Even if you didn't seen Mosely doing anything noteworthy, Mayorga did even less. :thumbsup

Ok, but Hopkins wasn't fighting...keep it relevant. As much as we all love Mayorga for his style he was just outboxed and outfoxed.

He was aggressive but it wasn't effective aggression at all. In this case the compubox number DO mean **** because they illustrate just how ineffective it was. Had there been a knockdown or Shane was staggered you could say the dont mean ****. But that didn't occur..

You can make an argument that Mayorga won 4 rounds and if you're really generous you can say that Shane was only up by a point heading into the 12th. Either way, Shane was ahead. The KO left no doubts so this topic should be put to rest. No need to sit here and speculate as to who was up on the cards. Shane's left hook was picture perfect. I still can't believe he got it off in the closing seconds.

Well let's see... You say that compubox counts punches that shouldnt be counted. This would lead a person to believe by your statement that not all of the punches compubox gave Mayorga should count. Therefore his percentage would be even less than 9. Seems clear to me.

If that's what you gathered from my statement, I find it odd that you are so committed to a view that is an inaccurate interpretation of someone else's sentiments...but whatever man, have fun posting.

I know what you were getting at. Percentage doesnt mean as much as who lands the harder more effective shots, but Sugar landed way more shots and I didnt really see Mayorga hurt him. Therefore the disparity in numbers actually does tell the tale of what happened tonight. At least Mosely took it out of the judges hands' with his sweet left hook.

I love Shane so much and to see him look so awful against a wild slugger like Mayorga, who he would have boxed the **** out of in his prime, made me focus on nothing more than how shat shane fought. :-(

No his statement made total sense.

If you are saying Shane was not that accurate because compubox is flawed then the same has to go the other way.
