How on earth did Campbell Hatton manage to get that decision?

He lost every round, none of the rounds were even close.

It's even worse than that. Campbell believes the cards were to close. Dude actually believes he should have won by a greater margin. SMH.

There is no way that level of wrong decision should be allowed to be brushed under the carpet, everyone from the casual viewer up to those with expert knowledge and experience of boxing knows it was not only the wrong decision, but a out and out robbery.

McDonnell should never be allowed to officiate or judge a boxing match again, boxing authorities cannot allow these beyond dubious decisions to continue, if they do then perhaps they too need investigating by real authorities with law enforcement powers.

There are some things in boxing that are a mystery, this scorecard from McDonnell isn't.

    This ^.
I'd like to see a rematch. That decision was so blatantly wrong and unfair.
Let them fight again I'm sure Karma would right the wrong here in that no points decision would be needed.

Yeah, his performance was borderline calamitously bad, teetering on embarrassing, and protecting his record benefits him in no way. The L is a necessary alarm bell for a fighter in the position Hatton's in, to slap him with the reality of how lacking he currently is and either a.) make him consider whether he actually has a future in the sport or b.) awaken him to just how much he needs to improve if he's ever to go anywhere in it.

Papering over that showing and allowing him to go away thinking he's a blue chip prospect developing at an apt pace will just instill the wrong kind of arrogance. He kept repeating "on to the next" in the post-fight interview, as if he's on some path of guaranteed forward progression that is subject to no challenge from the vagaries of fate — that's the kind of entitlement you foster when you put a rank novice with no pedigree on big bills from the very start of his career and reward dismal performances with highway robbery decisions. As things stand, he's a frightful KO loss waiting to happen, and at a low level.

I don't expect him to seriously consider doing something else. He's there now, he's tasted big nights in front of big audiences already, and there'd be a lot of swallowed pride involved in ghosting the boxing gig, it'd represent a tacit concession that he's crap and a shadow of his old man. So his father and uncle need to give him the news that Marcus McDonnell spared him — that he's got much more catching up to do than he realized.

Surely it couldn't be because he's related to some famous fighter.......

Yes but surely it would have to be somewhat close. He clearly lost and it wasn't even close. If you're going to create a corrupt decision, you need to make it at atleast somewhat believable. If a fighter is clearly dominated to the point where bookies are refunding bets lost, then you have to simply accept you're never getting away with it.

No one will accept that decision.
