How on earth did Loma get KD'd with such a simple shot

Text book straight right. It's why trainers repeatedly try to make fighters to "shoot" punches down the pipe. They're harder to see coming and if you're coming in it compounds the impact. Lomachencko got careless by coming in square and you do that against a solid technician like Linares you end up on the seat of your pants.

Viewing that punch on TV from a side angle it might look "simple" but in the ring it's difficult to pick up for a squared up fighter.

Linares threw the perfect counter to an incoming southpaw--a beautiful, straight right hand down the pipe. That he possessed the length, speed, and accuracy to land it does not reflect poorly on Lomachenko.

I never take much from a kd when a fighter is caught straight on like that with straight hand down the pipe....

That shot will take many/most fighters with a flash knock down that aren't planted properly.

That is linares best punch. It was really cocky on lomachenkos part to walk straight in like that

 

Actually it does reflect poorly on Loma, but Loma being the master boxer he is may learn from this mistake and become better.

 

FYI Martinez dropped Mikey with virtually the same shot.

 

Oh And don’t forget to put the KD that mattered the most. I wish we could hear audio of Jorge making that guttural noise that usually comes with those type of body shots
