How or why did 'Tyson' snap to embarrass himself in 1997?

    Folks,

I just reviewed my tapes' of BOTH "Tyson-Holy" fights of 1996 / '97, and I am curious as to why Mike Tyson was so gracious and classy in defeat following his 11th round TKO loss to Holy in '96, but then became an erratic and moronic ******* during the 3rd round of his 1997 rematch fight, plus the aftermath, following Mills Lane stopping the farce of 1997.........

Come fight # 1, Dr. Ferdie Pacheco was already stating that Tyson was stifled and frustrated as early as the 4th round of the initial fight in 1996.... Maybe so, but Tyson never lost control of his emotions there..... Even after Holy dropped Tyson with a hook in round 6, Tyson still mainteined his composure.....

SO! Why the hell did Mike Tyson FREAK OUT in 1997 as early as the 3rd round against Holy in Las Vegas???
    :huh:patsch:shock::admin:hat

    Headbutts.

    I totally understand his anger.

I thought that too..... But during the post-fight interview with Jim Gray in 1996, Tyson said graciously that he too was guilty of butting heads with Holy........ He simply accounted the loss to being beaten by a great fighter---HOLY!

Come 1997, Tyson's attitude and true colors surfaced to the boiling point and he snapped...... Something else is there to cause that effect.....

He has explained it numerous times. If you think that isn't the reason, I don't know what to tell you.

I'll tell you this, I will blame a certain amount of the problem on his degenerate team at the time...... John Horne, Rory Halloway and Ritchie Giachetti, along with Don King, are NOT the most diplomatic and caring people in the world....... And the post-fight rant with John Horne following Tyson's DQ loss to Holy in 1997 only shows what kind of co-manager he was---A MORON!!

At least Cus D'Amato, Jimmy Jacobs, Bill Cayton and Kevin Rooney knew how to contain Tyson and truly watch-out for his flaws and keep his mental approach from surfacing........

Tyson said sometime after the fight that he snapped (bit) because he snapped (lost his mind).

I sense the 'Ghetto' and 'Hood' was always in Tyson, but Cus and the initial team knew how to handle Tyson and keep him in line....... Except for Teddy Atlas....... Atlas is also a hot-head and his insight probably would've proved fatal had he remained on the team..... Cus was wise to catch on to that scene and release Atlas from the Catskills.....

By late 1989, Tyson was being controlled by King and useless dicks like "Horne and Halloway," amongst a few other turkey's lurking in the shadows milking Tyson's wealth...... Come the 1990s, Tyson professional focus had gone south.........

i mean the reason is right in front of all of our eyes, holyfield was headbutting him and anybody that saw "Tyson" saw mike walk us through each headbutt.

tyson may have headbutt holyfield as well but it was most likely retaliation.

So, its cool that Tyson makes history in the ring by biting the tip of Holy's ear off?

Man Holyfield was head butting the hell out of Tyson. He was dipping the knees and driving his head into him. I don't know how the ref didn't call that crap.

I thought he was a complete nut. Then when I rewatched it and remembered his comments I was shocked. Tyson was right. He was head butting him, opened a cut, then was targeting said cut. Damn.

yeah holyfield head butted him a ton of times, and got what he deserved and when he did he ran away....

media choose not see that holyfield caused all this

much like they chose not see 9 other guys he head butted like crazy
    lewis,rahman,bean,ruiz, the list goes on

and much how they paint him as a good christian even though 5 out his 9 kids were created by him cheating on his wife with other women

holyfield is a great fighter, but a he is dirty fighter who for some ****ing reason is always allowed to get away with it

that night he started a street fight with tyson and got his kicked and ran like a *****
    end of story....

I was a HUGE fan of Tyson until he started fighting dudes like "Norris, Francis, Savarese, Golota and Neilsen." It was during that time (1999-2001) that I actually saw Tyson as a faded fighter who merely still had a punch in his arsenal, but little savvy or technique left-over from his peak of 1988...... Tyson looked like a dick after round 2 with Lennox Lewis in 2002...... The rest of his later activity was a mere circus act........

What makes so many think he knows?

If it was not a pre-meditated act then he will not have much of an idea.

Francis schooled Williams, and Golota, whilst one of the most over rated HWs ever, will still be remembered as a decent talent.

Kirk Johnson got major props for beating Saverese.
