How or why did 'Tyson' snap to embarrass himself in 1997?

I don't know how to prove that.

His acting after the bite seemed like Ham Acting.

I've never been more pissed about spending so much money for a PPV than during that night! I invited all these people over, paid for the PPV by myself, paid for all this food and liquor and the biggest heavyweight fight of the year ends early because of a bitten ear... not once but twice?! That night still pisses me off to this day! Mike Tyson owes me some money!

Tyson knew that he could not go on. People say Mike was "Crazy", but he was nothing more than a little neurotic. Look at his psychiatry, psychology and neurology reports that were ordered to be released.

    Nothing much wrong with him.

Certainly not "crazy". Not even close.

One ear bite = okay, maybe I buy your "lost your mind for a split second" story, but..

Two ear bites = you're ****ing crazy.

He was retaliating to the headbutts, but his mental state at the time of that fight was very fragile. His heart was not in boxing and he was being manipulated by Don King. I agree that after this fight Tyson became a circus act, most people only watched because they were guaranteed a knockout or an ear bite. It was sad to watch him being dominated, by Lewis and struggling against Williams and McBride.

I agree with your point though Jazzo. Even when it first happened, I thought he did it so he can find a way out of the fight. Holyfield was kicking his ass.

I was actually MORE pissed when Seldon took the dive and stole my 50 PPV bucks earlier in 1996......... That was the WORST PPV crime ever......:fire

I also believe that Tyson snapped / tripped out cuz he was having trouble landing clean shots on Holy in BOTH fights............... Tyson never really put TWO good shots together for the entire + or - 14 rds that they fought......... And when Tyson did land the hard blow, Holy ate them well.....

I don't get why people don't call headbutts so often anymore. Holy was awful in the Tyson fight, and Son of Grond should be sterilized. But it seems the only guys who ever get DQ'd for headbutts are journeymen. Or am I wrong?

he was getting collared with intentional headbutts.

Three times I think he complained about them, and finally he snapped.

the reason why it's snapping or embarrassing or what have you is because it was done against boxing loyal man of god .... holyfield does what he does and its ok because hey its vander.. the guy went 50/50 with a division of heavys that aren't exactly par great for great ..but somehow he's on the top all time list of alot of people .. utterly amazing

Tyson himself said that he underestimated Holy the first time around, but was furious in the 2nd fight cayse felt Holy was headbutting purposely.

He got headbutted (what he felt was intentionally and it probably was) and lost his mind.

The interesting thing is that Tyson was one of the guys who believed in the sort of "Who cares? It's a fight" mentality. He was a frequent user of low blows and forearms and whatever other tricks he can get away with. Obviously getting headbutted would **** any man off...seems strange that Tyson would lose his **** like that even though he was the "all's fair in the ring" type.

Nice post and I agree more or less but trying to fit Tysons motives and actions into normal rationality is an error. The man is insane and possibly always was.

Dont get me wrong Im a hige fan , he was the reason i got into boxing ( we even share the same surname ) but hes ****ing bat**** !
