He trained Toney during Toney's career revival.

    Does that count?

It's not right that he is credited with "creating" Pacquiao. . .he merely made some minor adjustments to something that was 85% natural. Look at Pacquiao's earliest fights and you will see that he has fundamentally the same fighting style with minor improvements. Still a come forward southpaw volume puncher who depends on chin and workrate. . .what exactly has Roach altered here?

Roach did not change Pac nearly as much as what Steward did with Wlad post-Brewster I for example.

    Fairly rated, ATG trainer. Easily.

The way he transformed Pacquiao was just amazing and unexpected. The man deserves all the respect in the world for that. Lately he has been obviously very sick and his health is clearly deteriorating, only idiots will rate him while completely overlooking that.

Ariza is a conditioner, a great one at that. Freddie Roach's stylistic changes and improvements of Pacquiao from a one-dimensional fighter to the fighter you see today is remarkable. It takes an ATG trainer and an ATG fighter to accomplish that.

Ive trained with hole in the wall novice golden glove trainers, an ive trained with some of the best in the city. You wanna know the honest difference? NOTHING. The best ones are the ones that call your house at night when you dont show up. Nothing very detailed when it comes to training.

I love manny an im not accusing him anybody of anything. But Ariza is a drug supplier. Ill say "In my opinion" to make it better. They have to say conditioner to write it up on paper as a bill to pay him.. You guys are clueless. Conditioning isnt ****in rocket science. Look at marciano he went 15 rounds 60 years ago at a much higher pace. You think he needed a conditioner? cmon

all trainers get called overrated when most of his stable fighters gets beaten after a good career run.

which means a fanboy's criticism is very much weighed over reasonable posters. Welcome to ESB.

You reach a certain level and may take your foot off the gas just a little. Not sure he's as diligent as he was a few years ago.

I think trainers tend to get a little bit overrated. I really belive that the boxer makes the trainer famous not the other way around.

If your a short agresive fighter Roach is as good of a trainer as you can get. It seemes in this regard the only real flaw is that boxers under his charge don't seem to have a lot of intensity or the ability to finish someone off. I think that Chavez Jr. is more influenced by his father than he is by Roach and Roach is the secondary trainer not the main trainer for Quillin.
If your a tall boxer type. You should look elseware.

He also said that he just lets Toney do what he wants because there really isn't much you could tell Toney cuz he knows so much about boxing already.
