    Football

    Rugby, Cricket, F1.

All other sports including Boxing. They all have there day. Boxing has its major fights, Tennis has Wimbledon etc etc. But the ones listed above are the only ones to get consistently high TV viewing figures and attendance's.

    Lunny.

Shut the **** up, and stop ****ing crying.

Everybody needs to shut the **** up on this thread.

Boxing is not dying its a complete and utter myth, like i have explained in my previous post.

Boxing has always been a niche sport with break out events, because that's how the sport works, its about boxers climbing through their goals, some goals are bigger than others.

Pathetic people like to keep repeating..? That boxing is dead.

Its never been dead, not even close.

Boxing has always been this way.

    Completely unrelated but..

Frank Bruno was asked by a judge why he keeps beating his wife. "Well," says Frank, "I think it's my longer reach, more powerful jab, and nifty footwork."

Yeah but I don't know anyone else that really follows it. Some of my mates will watch some of the big fights advertised on sky or whatever. Like if Haye's fighting. Beyond that I don't really know anyone I'd consider a fan.
WOAH NELLY! Where did that come from?! I never said it was dead. In fact I often tell people they're talking shite when they say it's dead.

This thread was comparing it's position with other sports, you've said yourself in that post that it's a 'niche sport with a few breakout events'. All I did was list sports I think are more popular and explain why I consider them more popular.

Boxing is far from dead. People have been claiming boxing is dead for at least 100 years. I never claimed that.

    What's your point..?

Queens Park Rangers has been established since when..?

Individual boxers are essentially the team/asset, and its their job to build a brand/following, in a matter of years.

You don't just inherit fans and a following, because you are a boxer.

In football you inherit fans and a following! A bunch no marks, could play for Queens Park Rangers and people would still come and watch.

Two totally different sports, team sports are totally different.

    Shut the **** up mate.

I'd say a lot depends what area you are in. Some areas are rugby league obsessed, some like union, some like boxing. It's not a cut and dry 2nd. I'd go as far to say golf is far more popular in merseyside than boxing now.

Either way, when you say 2nd, it's hardly like its a close second. After football, the majority don't give a **** about other sports

Golf really??? I dont know anyone that is into golf but most scouse lads have boxed at some level and have some interest in it as fans as welll. I guess if your talking merseyside as a whole golfs pretty popular in towns like southport, and rugby leagues massive in st helens, but in liverpool itself I would defo say Boxing is second. Like you say though not a close second as football is by far the biggest sport.
