There seems to be a general denial on here or maybe it's just ignorance, people seem to be of the idea that admitting Floyd is actually quite well known in the UK (maybe not a Beckham, Tyson level etc.) but well known regardless is somehow going against their previously built up dislike of Mayweather and it seems it's something they're not willing to do even if they believe it to be true.

He's pretty much right there. The average person didn't know him before Hatton, and not many really know anything about him now.

You can't compare with with Haye for example, let alone a footballer.

I have no bias either way, but he's not a massive name.

A lot of sports fans will know him, a few others may know the name, but not much about him.

Before the Hatton fight he was pretty much unknown across the board. It's hard to see if you're a boxing fan and speak to boxing fans though.

He's a nobody in Germany as is Pacquiao. Weightclasses below 160 are irrelevant in Germany.

No one said he was on the david beckham level e.t.c. But he is still pretty popular in the UK this is a fact.

If floyd mayweather comes to england it will make news. Sky sports always covers anything to do with mayweather now, which exposes him to a massive sporting audience outside of boxing.

In Australia, Floyd is known as a famous sportsman, not many people outside of boxing circles know the **** between him and Manny, so he is flashy and popular.

He is leagues below Hatton/Khan/Haye and even Harrison to an extent, in the UK. Fact.

It is baffling how the highest paid sportsman is not even a crossover star (adverts etc).

it seems that the general impression of you on here is that you are a bit of a joke

yes we understand that you are a fan of floyd but you cannot see rational sense cos that is outweighed by your total homo infatuation with him :hi:

Sky Sports news may show him, but again that's for sports fans, his last fight was on the nothing TV channel of Primetime. He will have name recognition amoung sports fans, but they wouldn't be able to tell you much about him apart from the Hatton fight. He wont be known to the general public though.
