I don´t believe he is like hatton, does him being a muslim and **** influence his popularity over there or not?
It would be awesome if he could get a large following.

No being a muslim doesn't affect his popularity, pretty much everyone knows his name.

Of course it does, but Khan is a very popular man.

He sells out 22K venue's, and he'll do it again in April against Zab Judah or Prescott.

The massive hype around his pro debut gained him casual fans but also the attention of football hooligan racists.

those knowledgable about the sport knew of his great potential, but them ore his career progressed, his great flaws aswell, a lot of the criticism was justified. getting floored numerous times and getting dragged into a war vs a shot michael gomez etc. exposed his lack of infighting ability, put huge question marks over his chin, and proved that he still had a lot to learn.

things like bringing out 50 minute dvds and selling them for £20, and releasing autobiographies while he was still fighting 6 rounders also gained him a bit of hatred.

now that he has finally faced and survived against a puncher on the world stage, he will have less critics

He's known but I wouldn't say he is liked. And Lazarus will tell you he's not liked because he's a Muslim, but it's not that at all - it's because he's a twat.

Don't think many did bar Ricky & Joe (and Joe is debatable imho).

Naz was MASSIVE in England back in the day, massive mate.

Nowhere near the popularity of Naz; boxing has massively declined since those days.

A lot of people know Khan's name but also a LOT don't. Many of those that know the name wouldn't be able to put a face to the name, and even those that know him by sight couldn't tell you what weight he fights at.

He's definitely a known guy but he's not a superstar or anything.

My ex-girlfriends mum, knowing i liked boxing, was like "omg he won a world title did you hear", and I was shocked she knew it. Turned out it had JUST been on the tv moments before and her follow up statement was that she thought he was a heavyweight. She mentioned it again at the pub quiz that night and out of 9 people 3 of them had heard his name and one mustered "he won an olympic medal didnt he?".
