How popular is Khan in England?

well read my post on the first page, khan was shoved down everyones throats as a guy who would be a multiple world champ at age 21 when clearly had many, many faults to go with his good boxing talent, ffs im an irish nationalist who has spent more time arguing with BNP ****ers than anyone else, and even I was sick of hearing of the guy being as good as Mayweather and the rest when he was only 5 fights into his career, at least now he DESERVES the hype, but ONLY now.

 

He will never get the big white working class travelling support because he is Asian. That is simple, maybe sad fact, but it wont stop him doing big numbers on TV and name recognition.

 

Everyone knows Amir Khan but most think of him as a chinless ****, however after saturday im sure his fanbase has grown immensely... and rightly so.

 

Hatton never got that either he got the football/cricket moron crowd because of his links to man city etc.

Until middle eastern people actually start integrating and not bringing their views religion and segregation to this country fighters like khan will never be that popular.

What about Prince Naseem Fvking Hamed. You can't get as popular as him.

Ricky Hatton took the whole of Manchester to him to Las Vegas. Some ignorant American twats would think this is because he is White. No. It's because he was always out in the town getting drunk in pubs and saying hello and conversating with everyone he met.

Everyone knew the score with Hatton. That inbetween fights he was a drunk and let himself go and that he was never the best Welterweight.

It wasn't a race thing, never was. People weren't going...... Come Hatton you GREAT WHITE HOPE.

Look at the white Carl Froch..... Amir is Khan is WAAAY more popular than Carl Froch. Carl Froch is basically still unknown. Hell, Audley Harrison is more popular than Carl Froch.

 

Khan has been in the public eye for a while now, I think he'll start doing really good PPV numbers should he get big-name fights. He'll fill arenas no problem in the U.K but I don't think we'll see Hatton-esque travelling supports although if he where to fight a Mayweather or Pacquiao in Vegas he'd get massive backing.

In short, he'll make lots of money and gain more fans after Saturday's performance which was a great fight.

Even the biggest Khan fan could not have written the script for the Maidana fight and I'm sure his popularity will increase.

I dont think race plays as big a part as some suggest, most casual fans I know like him and Haye but don't know Froch, and if he were to top the bill against a Mayweather or Pacquiao in Vegas or fight in the nearest City in the U.K then you'd get pockets of these casual fans from all over going to watch the fight and have a ****-up, such is the fabric of British Nature.

I do feel however that if Khan lost then these casuals who'd jumped on the bandwagon wouldn't exactly be devastated either, it's one of those things, the Brits like a good ****-up and a good fight and with the modern media exposure and hype machines in place these days it's all going to lead to big pay days for Amir and any other Brit who can challenge at World Level.

Froch is an example of how-not-to-manage a British fighter, thus far anyway, it's a shame they couldn't keep Froch's terrestrial TV deal with ITV alive as he would be MASSIVE if his last few fights were shown on Council TV or even SKY Sports ....... they ****ed up big time did Team Froch, shame really.

No one knew who David Haye was when he was undisputed WBC, WBA, WBO Ring Magazine Cruiserweight champion.

Now everyone knows him just because he beat up a B-level fighter in Audley Harrison.

 

I actually did due to going to the ruiz and macranelii fight and also watching come of the canvas against mormeck. Also your being kind their harrison is more of a c-level fighter.

 

I think the Macaranelli victory was a game-changer for the Hayemaker in the popularity stakes, ..... this Maidana win could really boost Khan's popularity, in fact it is a guarantee.

Khan is hated by the majority of Hatton fans, Khan/Hatton are from the same part of the country, similar industrial Lancashire "No trees or grass in the garden background" in reality NO GARDEN as such only a small yard to tie up their staff/pitbull cross terriors. Anyway much like DLH came on the footsteps of JCC so is Khan to Hatton & as you said about the grannies loving oscar so it's the same in the UK, where Khan has had free TV exposure when he started out he's very well known & liked by the public & especially the women.

My missis hates boxing & hated hatton who she thought was a little weasel, but Khan she thinks he's nice & clean cut & along with all her mates + all the middle aged bitches down at the gym i use like him & the other day i had to pop into the doctors to pic up my kids perscription & the 1st thing said too me by this female receptionist was "OH I HOPE THAT KHAN WINS AT THE WEEKEND HE'S REALLY NICE HE IS" so yeh he's well known & liked for that clean cut oscar image while us scum & phlegm spitting boozing geezars don't appear to be in anyone's top 10 at the moment:smoke

 

Spot on Coming from that part of the world as well is not what you want to put on a picture postcard unless you live up towards the hills such as saddleworth and Delph.This image of Khan being clean cut he was not allowed into the New york though because of problems with his visa due to a driving conviction.

Many people make the mistake of comparing Naz to to Khan, it my opinion that Khan is more like DeLaHoya....let me break it down for you

Khan and DeLaHoya both young, nice looking
Khan Pak and Mus, DeLaHoya Mexican (both minorities but largely represented in their national countries)
Both have charm and charisma, on both sides of the ocean..........
Both represented their nations in the Olympics and were superstar heroes.

The Pak of the UK is equivalent to the Mex of USA, think West London vs. East LA.....there are some parallels....
Not trying to be racist just some food for thought, Khan is to the Brits and British version to what DLH was to us in the states.
