He was definitely a star for all the reasons that others had mentioned. I, too, was a fan of him. His style of boxing is really great to watch, especially his combination. His combination of punches is probably one of most beautiful I've seen.

No idea why anybody is so hung up on that drug, cross dressing thing. Its his personal life and if he enjoys that. I mean I only care what he does inside the boxing ring, what he does in his bedroom is none of my business and I find it super odd when people take to much interest in that.
The raping thing and the singing are really hard to forgive though.

Winky wright was offered a career high payday Gimp. I'll give you Vernon Forrest, Oscar didn't want any of that after seeing what he did to Cream/Clear Shane Mosley. And david reid??!! Wrong division at the time dumbass....

Prime Oscar I'd have over Forrest, I'd also have prime Oscar over Mayweather. Oscar had the beating of all he faced imo until he stepped up to middle. Maybe poor judgement in fights was his Achilles, but for me, fishnets had everything

Forrest v. Oscar would have been a damn good fight. Oscar moved up after a cash grab w/ Gatti to 154. OSLD v Viper would have been much better. But I guess after a loss, can't completely blame him with the Gatti tune up. But I don't think oscar cared to stick around at 147 anymore anyway.

I hated Oscar back in the day. HIs phony ass persona. BUT...I wasn't blind to his abilities. He fought just about everyone who mattered in his. Floyd went after who was beatable, or got him the most money at the lowest risk. For Floyd, it was always an 'acceptable' opponent that fans could just rationalize as good enough to not quite ***** about.

Good post mate. A point you made, "Oscar fought everyone" and "Floyd fought who he could beat". That's the truest saying going, you finish with your 0 and there is the age old question mark over your career " you never fought the best"..Even my all time fav JC, he should've hopped on the plane sooner, he would've lost his 0 too if he had the mindset of Oscar. Anybody leaving boxing with their 0 hasn't had a proper true career imo

    WTF? lol

2001- ODLH moves up to 154 and wins WBC 154 title.
2001- Forrest fights at 147 against Edgar Ruiz (who) in a 10 rounder

2002- ODLH unifies 154 by beating Fernando Vargas
2002- Forrest fights at 147 beating Mosley twice

2003- ODLH has two 154 fights, one against Mosley
2003- Forrest fights at 147 against Mayorga and gets KTFO

2004- ODLH offers Winky Wright career high payday, winky rejects it so ODLH moves up to 160 and fights Sturm and Hopkins
2004- Forrest takes the entire year off

So when was ODLH ever reluctant to fight Forrest? Oscar was always two or three steps ahead of Forrest doing bigger ad better things.

Pretty popular but I heard all that stuff about broads loving him so much was fake. I heard Bob Arum paid a bunch of girls to go to Oscars appearances and scream at him

He was adored by the little teenage girls when he was coming up. I wonder what those same women today would think about him after his cross dressing etc Not too much

ROFL show any casual sports, boxing fan a pic of Floyd or Canelo not in boxing gear but in street clothes, they wouldnt have a clue who they were. but show them a pic of Ali or Oscar & they would.
Oscar made lots of fans as an amateur when after every fight he would go to the corner Look to the sky & salute his beloved Mother in Heaven. Fans remember that.
As for Ali the story goes Ali was on the podium being introduced to the Pope & someone in the crowd asked " Who's that guy up there with Ali the one with the funny hat"
